I hope they can pull it together and make the series come close to what it once was.  It will take time.  Hopefully they will keep Long beach, Richmond and a couple of other road courses on the schedule.

Here is an idea.......how about moving some of the races to the same weekend and venue as NASCAR and running on Saturday with NASCAR running on Sunday.  Move the Nationwide series to some track hurting for dates, such as Darlington or Iowa.  This would keep the Sprint cup guys for running so many races in the Nationwide series and give some of the younger guys a chance to race.  It would also help get the IRL some much needed viewing.

NASCAR has said it's not interested in doing that.  What I'd really like to see is to have NASCAR move the Coca-Cola 600 to Monday in order to allow its driver to run Indy.  It'll never happen, but it sure would be something to see some guys like Gordon and Johnson run Indianapolis and see Stewart back in an Indycar.

Being more of an open wheel fan than a NASCAR fan (though I do watch now that Montoya is in -- I expected more of him by now, though), I am happy to see this back.  But more ovals?  How about less.  Oval racing is not exactly the most exciting racing, especially for open wheelers.  Seriously, trying to watch an open wheel race at Texas International is like watching a video game -- Nintendo 64, not xbox!  At least keep the oval racing to the super-speedways.

So now I despise George a little less (he is now on the same level as Bernie Ecclestone in my book) and hope he can now get together with Bernie and get F1 back to Indy.  If only their egos could fit in one room!
