I like the 9 win call. To be honest 8 wins would be great considering the south schedule this year. I guarantee this season will be a blast to watch.

I like to see that we are getting talented JUCO players. It is nice to have some of these JUCO guys coming in in Dec. so they will get a chance to practice with the team during spring ball. It gives them that extra time to learn the system and gel with the rest of the team. I'm just worried that if we recruit so heavily on the JUCO players we could be alienating some very good prep recruits and discouraging them from signing with us.
That being said, I am glad to see we have gone for depth on the defensive side. If we can get these players to plug in quickly with our 3-4 it could mean the difference in our season. I would love to see our defense tearing it up and creating havoc like the days of old. I'm also excited to see that we have signed some new threats at receiver. I would love to see us stretch the field a little more with Freeman's arm. Now that we no longer have Jordy, we will need to be able to distribute the ball more. Hopefully by stretching the field we can use Patton's speed to kill opponents with the draws and downhill running.
No matter whether it is college recruiting or the NFL draft, it's always fun to see new players being added to the roster. Speculation about their contributions to the upcoming season makes for an interesting off-season. In either case, I think its safe to say that we all can't wait to see what is going to happen on the field this fall.

I think we can have a good year as well. We signed a couple of pretty nice Freshmen RB as well. I'm intersted how they might pan out in the next couple of years. And I also like the Juco rout we took. These guys have been in the trenches a little more than if Freshmen were coming in they are hungery and you know most of those JUCO players were studs in High shcool and just couldn't get the ACT score so as long as they can keep there grades up we should be alright.
In my opinion I wouldn't want to recruit Freshmen O-line or D-line it makes sence to me to get them from JUCO because they have developed into more mature men by the time we get them. We should get out skill players as freshmen because they need more time to learn the system, good O-linemen can pick this stuff up quick.

I think the JUCO rout was good for the defense. Got good already proven kids (in the 3-4 scheme). They're mored prepared than the juniors last year that have 1 yr experience in the 3-4. And we still got a good group of younger guys to develop. Gives Prince and Co. this year and next to prove themselves as his first class graduates. Gotta give them credit for the quality they went out and got this year. 8-four star and 10+ three-star players depending on which site you go to. Best since early 2k's. Defense should be good next year if they can mesh quickly.

The best hope for KSU in these JUCO signings is that they can insert them into the Oline and Dline and Linebacker. The immiedate problems associated with JUCOs are that they have been playing JUCO ball for 2 years. They are then recruited and jump to the Big12 level of play, which is a considerable jump in size, speed, game play, etc. You have to give them at least until Dec of that first season before they are even up to speed. By then, confidence could be shattered, or steeled, and players might be dropping with academics too. Who knows, thats why they play the game.
KSU might be taking a huge risk in the long term too. With so many recruits being JUCOs now, in two years, they will have a 10 man or under junior class. Not good. That will demand them to have another big JUCO signing or play underclassmen heavily. Both signify given the keys over to underexperienced players. Prince is taking a huge risk with obvious potentials both negative and positive. For KSU fans, and for his job, he better hope it works out. I wonder if the athletic department will go for another sub bowl season. But they might. I think regardless of what happens next year, they will allow him to at least have 09. then, Four years worth of him will be enough to judge if he has done anything.

What is the big deal? Don't be concerned about Juco players. Snyder was huge into recruiting Juco players. He had more Juco players than freshmen most of the time anyway. The speed isn't that much different for the good Juco player 4 star and 5 star players even 3 star players. These guys were recruited as Freshmen but maybe couldn't get the ACT score or grades needed to go D-1. They have the skills and now more knowledge tham most in coming freshmen or sophmores already there. I have no problem with getting Juco players. Hey if we are a JUCO pipe line I'm fine with that. I'm willing to bet that if we can have a Junior college all star team we will be pretty good.

9 wins is absolutely ludicrous. Maybe its because there are not that many posters here, but my God men, diversify your thoughts!
Do you realize that last year, your defense gave up more points per game since 1989! Do you know the last time it was near that bad. 04!! When this team started going down hill. The D has not, and until it proves other wise, will not be better. A shock of JUCO recruits who werent smart enough to get into D 1 college in the first place (but they know more about football, trust me ... right) are all of a sudden going to 1) prove to be all american players on defense in a scheme that we cant play and 2) not fail out of school and lose eligibilty? Jeez, you guys dont even consider anything that goes under the "non optimist" view.
Listen, Fresno St and Louisville. You remember those games from last year and two years ago boys? wow. They were class A wuppings. And now, in the beginning of the season, you expect these superhero JUCOs to come in and wall up a horrendous defense but that is completely unrealistic. KSU could very well be 2-2 going into conference play against one of the most prolific offenses in the nation. Yea that will look grreat. Im sure those JUCOs have seen a whole lot of 5000 yd Graham Harrel passers and spread offenses in their day. The Big12 is loaded with the best QBs in the nation, along with some of the most prolific offenses in NCAA history. Two Heisman candidates ARE IN YOUR SAME DIVISION!! But youre right, KSU just got a bunch of JUCOs. They will be fine.

Not only do we have a good group of Juco Linebackers but we also have our best linebacker back from last year who only got to play 2 games in Antwon Moore. He has a motor that won't quit as soon as he got hurt that is when our defense started to fall apart. We also got a couple of good DL. So on the optimistic side yes I think 9 wins is possible. But I'm looking at 7 or 8 wins. Stop living in last year and lets focus on this year. Oh, but KU may only have last year to talk ab | |
