What are everyones expectations for the '08 season now that the recruiting class is set in stone?  I personnally like the number of juco guys coming in (their talent alone will help the younger players develop), and i like that the coaching staff made huge strides to get the players that best fit the 3-4 scheme.  It should be an interesting and exiting year for Wildcat football.

GO CATS!!!!!

You're insane.  This team will have no chemistry.  No senior leadership.  No school pride.

And you are missing a very big point, KState only has 25 scholarships to give this year!  What is he going to do with the other 8 kids who signed a LOI?

This is a disaster waiting to happen.  You know not all of the JUCO's are going to make the grades.  You know not all of them are going to be good players.  You better hope for more walk-ons like Nelson.

Oh, and did you forget that Division I programs can only have 85 kids on the roster?  Let me do the math for you:

2007 Roster:  85

2007 Seniors: -20

2008 Recruits: 33

Total 2008 Roster: 98

Hmmmm.  Doesn't add up does it?

Six of the JUCO recruits were signed in December, so they count towards last year's recruiting class. Some won't make the grades and others will be grayshirted. So they will be under the 25 man limit by the time fall practice starts up. There are plenty of teams that sign more than the 25 man recruiting limit.

As for the expectations, as long as some of those DL recruits pan out then I think this should be a very good year. I think that a lot of people forget that we were being talked about as being possibly the top Big 12 North team last year, at least until that end of the year collapse. My guess is a big bounce back year... 9 wins.

well it doesn't take long to see your a cu fan.  prince knows(i hope) what he's doing by going after a lot of good players because all programs recruit guys that are academic risks, if they didn't, they would miss out on potential all-stars.  you're always going to have a handful that don't make the grade, it's a gamble you have to take if you want to win.  and as far as leadership and chemistry is concerned,  the offense really doesn't lose a lot of the core players from last year.  the d needed as much help as it could get, so they recruited as much talent from wherever they could.  i think that the class is unique to say the least, even unconventional, but i think they did a bang-up job at it this year.  i really hope their longterm goal is to aim for 4 year guys, but this year they plugged holes wherever they needed to. i just hope this class hits.

I like the 9 win call.  To be honest 8 wins would be great considering the south schedule this year.  I guarantee this season will be a blast to watch.

I like to see that we are getting talented JUCO players. It is nice to have some of these JUCO guys coming in in Dec. so they will get a chance to practice with the team during spring ball. It gives them that extra time to learn the system and gel with the rest of the team. I'm just worried that if we recruit so heavily on the JUCO players we could be alienating some very good prep recruits and discouraging them from signing with us.
That being said, I am glad to see we have gone for depth on the defensive side. If we can get these players to plug in quickly with our 3-4 it could mean the difference in our season. I would love to see our defense tearing it up and creating havoc like the days of old. I'm also excited to see that we have signed some new threats at receiver. I would love to see us stretch the field a little more with Freeman's arm. Now that we no longer have Jordy, we will need to be able to distribute the ball more. Hopefully by stretching the field we can use Patton's speed to kill opponents with the draws and downhill running.
No matter whether it is college recruiting or the NFL draft, it's always fun to see new players being added to the roster. Speculation about their contributions to the upcoming season makes for an interesting off-season. In either case, I think its safe to say that we all can't wait to see what is going to happen on the field this fall.

I think we can have a good year as well.  We signed a couple of pretty nice Freshmen RB as well.  I'm intersted how they might pan out in the next couple of years.  And I also like the Juco rout we took.  These guys have been in the trenches a little more than if Freshmen were coming in they are hungery and you know most of those JUCO players were studs in High shcool and just couldn't get the ACT score so as long as they can keep there grades up we should be alright.

In my opinion I wouldn't want to recruit Freshmen O-line or D-line it makes sence to me to get them from JUCO because they have developed into more mature men by the time we get them.  We should get out skill players as freshmen because they need more time to learn the system, good O-linemen can pick this stuff up quick.

I think the JUCO rout was good for the defense. Got good already proven kids (in the 3-4 scheme).  They're mored prepared than the juniors last year that have 1 yr experience in the 3-4.  And we still got a good group of younger guys to develop.  Gives Prince and Co. this year and next to prove themselves as his first class graduates.  Gotta give them credit for the quality they went out and got this year. 8-four star and 10+ three-star players depending on which site you go to. Best since early 2k's.  Defense should be good next year if they can mesh quickly.

The best hope for KSU in these JUCO signings is that they can insert them into the Oline and Dline and Linebacker. The immiedate problems associated with JUCOs are that they have been playing JUCO ball for 2 years. They are then recruited and jump to the Big12 level of play, which is a considerable jump in size, speed, game play, etc. You have to give them at least until Dec of that first season before they are even up to speed. By then, confidence could be shattered, or steeled, and players might be dropping with academics too. Who knows, thats why they play the game.

KSU might be taking a huge risk in the long term too. With so many recruits being JUCOs now, in two years, they will have a 10 man or under junior class. Not good. That will demand them to have another big JUCO signing or play underclassmen heavily. Both signify given the keys over to underexperienced players. Prince is taking a huge risk with obvious potentials both negative and positive. For KSU fans, and for his job, he better hope it works out. I wonder if the athletic department will go for another sub bowl season. But they might. I think regardless of what happens next year, they will allow him to at least have 09. then, Four years worth of him will be enough to judge if he has done anything.

What is the big deal? Don't be concerned about Juco players.  Snyder was huge into recruiting Juco players.  He had more Juco players than freshmen most of the time anyway.  The speed isn't that much different for the good Juco player 4 star and 5 star players even 3 star players.  These guys were recruited as Freshmen but maybe couldn't get the ACT score or grades needed to go D-1.  They have the skills and now more knowledge tham most in coming freshmen or sophmores already there.  I have no problem with getting Juco players.  Hey if we are a JUCO pipe line I'm fine with that.  I'm willing to bet that if we can have a Junior college all star team we will be pretty good.

9 wins is absolutely ludicrous. Maybe its because there are not that many posters here, but my God men, diversify your thoughts!

Do you realize that last year, your defense gave up more points per game since 1989! Do you know the last time it was near that bad. 04!! When this team started going down hill. The D has not, and until it proves other wise, will not be better. A shock of JUCO recruits who werent smart enough to get into D 1 college in the first place (but they know more about football, trust me ... right) are all of a sudden going to 1) prove to be all american players on defense in a scheme that we cant play and 2) not fail out of school and lose eligibilty? Jeez, you guys dont even consider anything that goes under the "non optimist" view.

Listen, Fresno St and Louisville. You remember those games from last year and two years ago boys? wow. They were class A wuppings. And now, in the beginning of the season, you expect these superhero JUCOs to come in and wall up a horrendous defense but that is completely unrealistic. KSU could very well be 2-2 going into conference play against one of the most prolific offenses in the nation. Yea that will look grreat. Im sure those JUCOs have seen a whole lot of 5000 yd Graham Harrel passers and spread offenses in their day. The Big12 is loaded with the best QBs in the nation, along with some of the most prolific offenses in NCAA history. Two Heisman candidates ARE IN YOUR SAME DIVISION!! But youre right, KSU just got a bunch of JUCOs. They will be fine.

Not only do we have a good group of Juco Linebackers but we also have our best linebacker back from last year who only got to play 2 games in Antwon Moore.  He has a motor that won't quit as soon as he got hurt that is when our defense started to fall apart.  We also got a couple of good DL.  So on the optimistic side yes I think 9 wins is possible.  But I'm looking at 7 or 8 wins.  Stop living in last year and lets focus on this year.  Oh, but KU may only have last year to talk about.  You do realize last years success doesn't translate into automatic success this year.  I'm predicting Reesing will not have as good of season as he did last year and look like the average player he really is.

Reesing = Average player?

61.9% passing completion rate, 3,486 yds passing, 33tds and 7 picks... very average i agree.

Then theres that Freeman guy.. repspectable passing yds at 3300, but 18 tds, and 11 picks (first time in career he ended with more tds than picks)!! What is he, flunking QB? Dude if you want to argue or make a point than make a factually based one but dont say rediculous crap like Todd Reesing was average. Up until the mizzou game he was heisman candidate and those people have a little bit more credibility than you.

As to 9 wins being possible, after watching my team do what many said was impossible last year, i wont count it out. But you obviously havnt looked at your schedule at all! Fresno comes into your house early on. Everyone remember that awesome end to the season? And then comes Louisvillle @ their pad. Think back to Dylan Meier getting annhilated but you actually had a good defense. And they walked alllll over you. thats a good possibility of 2-2 or 3-1. Then you get to open your season at home!! Yay... no. Tech is going to murder that defense thats composed of half JUCO transfers and the other half guys from last year who couldnt do it. The season will brutal. It could easily be 2-10. 9 wins? My God.... Not one of you fans has even considered how bad it could get. The 80's are calling KSU football, and all the signs are pointing that its going to get worse... just like KSUs record has ever year under Prince.

KUnKC4ever SHUT UP your KU team is good on football each time Halley's comet comes around your school has had a traditionally horrible football program you had ONE good year don't act like your team is a traditional power now I looked at Rivals.com and according to their rankings you had a worse recruiting class then KSU so your sorry Jayhawks have basketball sure but we are even starting to catch up to you there We beat you.

honestly there are no fans that have one good year and then talk crap like they are national powers so once again KUnKC4ever SHUT UP.
