Wow, I'm glad Tiller and Co. really worked hard to recruit for us in this, his final season. We managed to pick up ONE solid recruit...........a kicker. Hey thanks guys. You're absolutely terrible. For a team that has gone to bowl games 10 out of the last 11 years, this is horrible.
I have lost all confidence in the program. When you have had the teams that we've had, combined with NFL placement of QB's, and DE's, you should be able to grab 1 guy in the top 50 at least in those positions.
I hope my father doesn't renew his season ticket package. For all the resurgence the program has had in terms of following, the fans that have started coming back to Ross-Ade deserved a WAY better performance in the recruiting arena than this.
Good riddance Tiller. Get out.

As with many other coaches who are near retirement it has been tough for Joe to land a top recruit the past few years. Now with a new coach established hopefully 2009 will bring a better class.
Also 2 highly rank commitments changed their minds:
1) Roy Roundtree, a nationally ranked receiver and kick returner from Ohio, signed with Michigan on the first day of the college football signing period. Roundtree committed to Purdue in May and reaffirmed his decision many times since.
2) Louisiana four-star defensive back Jerico Nelson committed to Purdue on Jan. 22, then switched to Arkansas last weekend. Tiller said losing Nelson, whom the Boilermakers had been recruiting for a short time, was much different than the two years they spent on Roundtree.

Yeah, I had heard the Roundtree going to UM rumors, as I live in MI.
either way, those 2 players don't make up for anything as far as I'm concerned. According to Rivals, we end up with the 63 ranked recruiting class, just nudging Middle Tennessee and Duke. Ridiculous. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Great, now we can go back to the way it was from 86-96. Guess we're never going to see the next phase of the Ross - Ade renovation. I'm pissed.

We have always had terrible recruiting classes, even when Brees played. The coaching staff can definitely coach players but I agree that we need some more explosive talent.

Also, it's not like it's impossible to find players. Our program has spent a lot of money over the years, and even if you don't have a 100,000+ gate draw like tOSU, Michigan, or Penn State you can still recruit. Just ask Illinois.
I don't know much about Danny Hope, but I hope that he's able to turn this thing around. Purdue simply hasn't done much since 2000. The 2001-2007 era has been noteworthy in Purdue sports only because those teams have consistently done worse than they've been capable of.
That being said, our recruiting class isn't completely terrible. On the plus side, we still did manage to fill out a good slate of scholarship athletes. As long as they work hard and condition themselves the proper way, it's possible for some of them to become terrific players. You know your program is really going downhill if you can't even fill out all your scholarships.

I'm pissed too. I have to work with a bunch of Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State guys and I am sick of these mediocre teams and having to defend myself against these guys about them. Why can't they recruit better than this? Purdue is a great school and their players (usually) always graduate with a Purdue degree, have a good chance of going pro, go to a great school in the Midwest.........there are a thousand reasons to play at Purdue. I just don't think they are trying hard enough or selling the right stuff to these kids to get them to come and play.
