i don't think the debate was about the SEC being the better conference this year.
I think it was more about the SEC being overrated, and the Big Ten being underrated.
There was also a debate about SEC speed, which has since calmed down after Chris Wells burned the LSU defense on that early play. Oh, and Michigan outpacing Florida despite having 4 turnovers, including 2 fumbles inside the FLA 5.
After the bowl games, it can be said that the SEC is actually as good as advertised, and the Big Ten is indeed mediocre, something like #4 or #5 in terms of depth.
It's been a very entertaining year nonetheless, and we Big Ten fans will try to have something to cheer about next fall, when Ohio State, Illinois and Wisconsin contend for the Big Ten title, with Ohio State hoping for another trip to the national championship. You can't redeem yourself unless you take risks, right? Ohio State @ USC should also be a game capable of redeeming the 06/07 buckeyes.
I hope this debate is over because I am tired of defending the Big Ten when the SEC is simply better. All conferences have off-years, and the Big Ten fans need to accept that theirs is now.
