As the last of my bistro blend brews and I try to be patient enough to wait to enjoy my english muffin with some homemade peach jam, I find myself jumping back and forth from procrastinating by reading various message boards on a variety of subjects and trying to clean the house, yes, this early in the morning, I've been transforming my house from my work space to a house again.

For the past month, my husband and daughter have been patient while I melted wax, poured soap, worked with sea salts and had my yarn and patterns all scattered about, not to mention the acrylic paints and figurines that I've been painting.  Today, we have our "holiday" cookout and the state of the house was not fit to welcome guests.  To be honest, I'm not looking forward to having guests invade my inner sanctum, but I'll deal.

With retirement being 20 years and 13 days away, and football still too far away, I've found myself in a state of aggitation lately.  I guess the increase in hot flashes and night sweats, where I've found myself sticking my head in the freezer more, and just a general feeling of restlessness, I've hit my midlife crisis.  Funny how it hit just as the kid came home for the summer for college.  The sad thing is, the rise in gas prices and other prices, I'm forced to be placed on a budget, thus unable to find an answer to calm the yearnings in this summer of my discontent.

Buying a sports car isn't the answer since I already drive a Firebird with t-tops.  I haven't reached the point yet where I seriously considered going out and buying a Harley.  I thought about getting some artwork done like Angelina Jolie has on her back in "Wanted", but I have to be honest and know that I could never pull it off like she does.  I could, perhaps, slip off and find myself a younger lover, but lets face it, I would be consistently questioning whether they wanted me for my body or for the chocolate chip cookies.  It's been too hot to wear leather and the beaches are too crowded now to enjoy a solitary walk along the waters edge in the twilight hours.  Oh well, I'll deal with it, I always do, though the family will continue to run and hide when one of my mood swings hit.

I guess those of us who love football are at a stage of discontent also, given some of the topics of the message board.  I've noticed when there's nothing else to chat about, it's become okay to attack others.  Well, at least something is consistent.

Catching up on what's going on in the NFL, we can actually say, not much.  Fantasy Football drafts have picked up, though I can't understand why they're in swing now, especially given that there's still too much time for teams to cut players.

Speaking of cuts, I wasn't much surprised when the Steelers released Najeh Davenport.  We watched the Rooney's pull in Mewelde Moore and then pickup Rashard Mendenhall in the draft and we knew they weren't going to get rid of Willie Parker.  It was just a matter of time that Davenport became irrelevant.

The county in which the Indianapolis Colts are housed has been named the top place to live in the US.  I guess this is a bright note for Colts fan.  However, looks like the Colts are going to go into training camp with two key players being placed on the unable to perform list.  Rumor has it Dwight Freeney and Bob Sanders are still nursing injuries from last season.  Speaking of Bob Sanders, do you really want a nickname?

Looks like Joe Horn won't be going any where anytime soon.  Falcons aren't actively looking to trade him and seems that no one really wants him anyway.  Speaking of not being wanted, how come Shaun Alexander hasn't been picked up, despite the rumors that seven teams have talked with him.

With Joe Jurevicius's second knee surgery probably keeping him from training camp, question comes into play as to whether he'll be effective the first few weeks of regular season.

Okay Brett, if you ask me, it's best if you go ahead and stay retired.  Yeah, you may still have it in you, however, not only have you seriously contemplated retirement but actually did it.  If you came back, would you have the passion that you once had?

So, what's your Sunday look like today?

Waterman, thank you....sucks about your day though...not the going home and going to sleep but the mowing the lawn.   Sunday and sleeping tends to go hand in hand.

Hopefully you'll get more in though then just fighting the crabgrass.

Waterman...thank you.

Sucks about your day though...not the sleeping part but the having to get up and mow the lawn.  Sundays and sleeping seem to go hand in hand.  Hopefully you'll have some time to do something else besides yardwork.
