For the record, I am in favor of the Hinrich for Camby / Kleiza trade. Having said that, if that trade falls through, there are rumors of a Nocioni for Krstic / Swift  trade. This trade would also rid the Bulls of Nocioni's 4 remaining years of contract, in exchange for Swift's expiring 6.2 mill contract and perhaps a 3 mill 1 year contract offer for Krstic.

This will leave the Bulls with a need at SF, which could be filled by first letting Gordon walk, and then offering Maggette as much of a contract that the Bulls can afford to keep them from the luxury tax threshold.

So in essence "letting Gordon walk" isn't actually letting him walk without getting something in return.

This would make Hinrich the eventual back-up PG and have a roster that looks like this:

Rose / Hinrich (pretty dog on good)

Hughes / Sefolosha / Curry (Maggette could also play the 2)

Deng / Maggette (not necessarily in this order)

Gooden / Thomas / Swift / Simmons

Noah / Krstic / Gray

So here is my question:......is this a financial possibility?

You are swapping Nocioni's contract with that of Swift/Krstic's contracts. So that would be a wash. You are letting Gordon walk and signing Maggette. This would mean you are hoping to land Maggette with the money you would try to use to resign Gordon, so it could work, but Maggette would have to accept a smaller contract then Deng Because Deng will demand 11+ mil. a year. That does not leave a lot of money to sign Maggette. If we could pull it off I would have Maggette start at SG and Deng at SF. I do not think we could pull it off though.

We should try to trade Kirk for Camby and then Nocioni for Maggette( sign and trade). Clippers would be getting something in return for Maggette instead of just losing him and the Bulls could offer Maggette Nocioni's money of about 8.5 mil. a year. I think Maggette would take that for sure. Could happen.

....If that trade falls through?....   I never knew that Linas Kleiza and Marcus Camby for Kirk Hinrich was as serious as you are making it sound.  I've heard about a Camby-Hinrich deal, but Kleiza as well?  The salaries do match up with both Camby-$8,000,000.00 and Kleiza $1,824,000 for Hinrich's $10,000,000 next season, but Denver would not do that deal period.  Also, that would give Chicago a front-court of Camby, Noah, Gray, Thomas, Gooden, Deng, Nocioni, and Kleiza, just way too expensive and crowded.  I can see the Bulls doing a deal with New Jersey though sending 6'7 SF Andres Nocioni for 6'9 Stromile Swift's $6,000,000.00 dollar expiring contract, and Nenad Kristic's $2,782,628.00 contract. With Luol Deng going to be getting 55-60 million, there's no need for a $45,000,000.00+/million dollar backup in Nocioni. I just don't see 6'6 SF Corey Maggette being a Bull next season,  it is said he has limited his search to two teams-the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs for the chance at winning it all.  Wow, I didn't know a player in today's athletic sports world that a player takes twice as much less money to play on a winner.  Although, the 76ers and Warriors have some big money to throw his way and I believe neither has made an offer-yet that is.  But with the Warriors situation with them getting burned after making max-level deals to both Gilbert Arenas and Elton Brand.  I think they have their targets of Restricted F/A Andre Igoudala.  If that falls through, I can see them offering Maggette 11,000,000.00 +/season.   Maggette's Efficiency/48 and PER was 25.77 and 19.43.  That ranked an impressive 6th Best amongst Small Forwards behind: LeBron, Carmelo, Matrix, Caron Butler, and NBA Finals MVP,The Truth-PP. I'd like to see Maggette as the Bulls Shooting Guard, but I just don't think a deal will get done with all the other options out there.  I'm very surprised Maggette would accept the 5.8 million dollar, mid-level exception, the same as ex-Bulls 6'1 PG Chris Duhon just accepted to be the Knicks PG.  Could you imagine Maggette on the Spurs with Duncan, Ginnobli, and Parker, that team would be flat-out awesome.

Not bad, but keep in mind the Bulls can exceed the cap to re-sign Gordon and Deng.  But you cannot exceed the cap to sign someone elses FA.  So Maggette would have to sign here at the mid-level exception because that is about wht the Bulls sould be under the cap assuming Deng is re-signed in the range you speak of.  The other thing is, since the Bulls have made the qualifying offers to Gordon and Deng, I think they can no longer renounce either.  I could be wrong on that but the whole idea of waiving your matching rights involves not making the Q offer which triggers your matching rights.  Technically, Gordon/Deng are already signed to one year deals unless they receive a better offer that the Bulls match.   There are rumors that Maggette will take a Mid-Level  deal from a contender.  Would he take it to play at home?

BTW, you can drop Curry from your deliberations as the Bulls have stated he is not coming back.  He is not even on the roster they are talking to the Orlando Summer League next week.

The trade looks good.  Keep in mind, the Bulls sent Demetrius Nichols to Orlando.  If they feel he is capable of taking the 12 to 16 minutes that Deng is not on the floor, that rumor may have legs and signing Maggette, or any other 3, remains an option, but not a necessitiy.

As much as I hate to say this I really don't see Paxson signing or going for any big names. I hope I'm wrong, but he just falls in love with his players too much and it comes back to haunt him. If Loul Deng was the reason we didn't get Kobe, Pau, or KG, then boy he better pick it up this year. I would love to see that Hinrich trade happen and we could get a backup PG, but it's hard to see what Pax is going to do except trying to resign Deng and Gordon.

Here is my thoughts - and i believe they work on ESPN trade stuff.

Trade Larry Hughes big contract and Cedric Simmons (just to match numbers) for
