Should the Clay Bennett Cowboys start Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, D.J. White and Chris Wilcox next season? None of their centers are particularly effective. Perhaps platooning Nick Collison with White and Wilcox. How does the Earl Watson-Luke Ridnour competition play out with Westbrook in the fold?

Not a bad line-up.
What better way to start the future by starting young guys, I know its taking away from the veterans but a new setting requires younger guys to take the franchise to a whole new level.

Little care I.

No offense to the former Sonics (many of whom I am a fan of), but I will never root for this team.  This franchise makes the Baltimore Ravens look like the Green Bay Packers in comparison.

I hope that Howard Schultz's countersuit is somehow successful (although he never should have sold to the out-of-town ownership group) and that order can be restored to the NBA landscape.  I think it sucks that David Stern supported this move, the city of Seattle took a settlement after taking Clay Bennett to court and, most of all, it sucks that the fans in the Pacific Northwest are getting absolutely shafted.

I'm proud of the Sonics fans who wish to effectively wash their hands of the NBA and have absolutely no interest in supporting a team poached from another market in the future (you know, like the Grizzlies or Bobcats).  I admire and agree with that perspective thoroughly.  While I truly hope that somehow the Sonics will return in a great, hostoric venue with perhaps the most intimate arena in the league, it appears that the NBA will erode as a result of this move and that, once again, sports in general will suffer and lose some of its innocence (an antiquated notion, sure, but why else are people fans?).

SM, you nailed it just right. The hands are completely washed as after a bitter divorce why would you want to jump back into bed with a whore like david Stern.

Let's build that new state of the art arena for basketball (but for NCAA regionals only) and court the NHL. Time to give the canucks a NW rival!!

Time to start anew and not look back, just learn from past bad experiences and mistakes.

That line up mentioned could compete with well with the old CBA teams. Sorry for you OKC Poachers but it will take years to be competitve with that team as Clay did not think the City would screw up their case and then fold like they did. You got them two years early. Enjoy!

SMJ,

I agree with you all the way.  Being a die hard Sonic fan from the Spencer Haywood and Bob Rule days, its sad to see them leave.  I don't know who I am more angry with...the new owner for moving them or at Starbucks for selling them.  Starbucks made it big with its start in Seattle and they couldn't support a team which had been in Seattle for 41 years.  Worse yet, they sold it to a guy with intentions from the giddy-up to move the team to OKC.  I have so many great memories of the Sonics of old and going to the games with my grandmother to see her favorite team.  I am sure she rolled over in her grave when the Sonics left Seattle.

As for the city of Seattle, it will be interesting to see what they do in response to this.  The city of Seattle representatives just rolled over, played dead and accepted a settlement.  Bring on the NFL because the NBA is dead in my mind!  Go Seahawks!
