Last year we went 4-2 in the division, sweeping both the Jets and Fish. This year I think we have to repeat atleast a 4-2 divisional record to get into playoffs. I don't think we will get a win against the Pats unless they don't play all their starters in week 17, so do you guys think we can sweep the Jets and Dolphins again? Personally, I feel it can be done. But on the other hand I can easily see us losing to both teams as we didn't really stomp them last year (except for the home Dolphins game).
The Dolphins are in rebuilding mode but I can see them getting 6-7 wins if thing pan out right. Realistically, we should be able to sweep them again and there is no way they compete for AFC East title (sorry Dolphins' fans maybe next year but you have too many question going into the season, i.e. QB, young and unproven WRs, secondary).
The Jets are a question mark to me. I could see them going anywhere from 4-12 to 10-6. All their FA signings have to help them improve in order for them to compete this year for a playoff spot. I think Jets fans are putting a little to much faith in some of their signings, as I have seen alot of their fans saying their line should be top 10 in the league this year. Last I checked Damien Woody was benched in Detroit, I mean come on Detroit who let in over what 40+ sacks last year. I think Faneca is a good addition, though, he is on the other side of 30 now. Sweeping the Jets isn't out of the question, however I see a split to be more reaslistic.
Overall, a 4-2 divisional record can be obtained. Maybe if by some unexplained phenomenon we can take one from the Pats this year, then I can see a playoff spot. But in all reality, I am just hoping we can compete with them instead of getting blown out like the last few years. I think we are one more year and another good DE, TE, and C from competing for the AFC East title.
