Hawkfan, I mentioned packaging Badard and Beltre earlier in the thread.  The one team that can use both and have what we need in return is the Dodgers.  Should the Dodgers be more concerned with winning the World Series instead of just getting to the play offs then they could pick up the power and defense needed with Beltre and a quality arm in Badard.

Also about the Mariners getting Elsburry from the Red Sox is just unrealistic.  They would never give up a cheaper faster CF while they have a more expendable KoKo Krisp.

And Finally on trading Badard to the Yankees is not going to happen.  The Yankees have nothing in their farm system right now.  Their top prospects have been sucking as of late.

I completely agree with this article. Geoff has finally got one thing right; the Mariners need to cut ties with Ichiro. He was great when he was first brought on board and I have loved watching him and chanting E-Cheer-O when he steps up to the plate, but the M's need trade bait and he is it....

Are you guys listening to your selves? You want to trade away the only "constant" on this team. The one player that the fans come out to see every day. How can you call your selves true fans? I don't care who we get in return, as a fan one tends to grow attached to players who have been with the team for a number of years, Griffey, E. Martinez, Buhner, Boone, Johnson, ECT. Trading Ichiro would disheartin me like it did when we traded Griffey. Trading Ichiro is not the answer. And with a Japanese ownership group probably won't happen anyways... And just for the record theres no way in hell Elsbury is faster than Ichiro. I've seen both of them run in person, and Ichiro is much faster.

And you call yourself a fan?  But you don't care about seeing the team get better?  It's a dangerous game questioning people's commitment as fans.....

Look, I am a huge Ichiro supporter and think they people who've talked smack about him all year are making too much ado about nothing.  But you HAVE to care about who you could get in return if you ever want to get better.  Not considering trades is a surefire path to continued failure.  Every team I can recall who has been at the bottom of the league and turned it around quickly followed the same path - traded their high-priced veterans for the best prospects they could get.

To me, Ichiro is a Mariner and always will be.  I'd hate to see him in another uniform.  But I care more about the team than the player, and if it's good for the team's future I'd have to support a move.  I just don't see it happening.

I think the market for Ichiro is small - a contending team that is struggling to score runs and looking for someone to ignite their offense.  The only team I see like that off the top of my head might be Arizona, and with Eric Byrnes back on the DL, there might be a fit.   Damn.  I could see Ichiro going there and hitting .400 the rest of the way.....
