In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

The political winds will shift should we be attacked from inside this country again by Islamists

I will stand beside the Americans I know, not the Muslims I don't. I've witnessed enough to know that they are an untrustworthy lot.

Sounds like I believe hard work should be rewarded when the time is due. It is not due the liar. Not now and based on his mantra of change, which he uses quite often, possibly not ever. Just words, just speeches.

No You Cant

I believe in a woman's right to choose, payton.  What are you getting at?  If you got a big bomb to drop then just drop it and stop trying to "set me up".  I could take or leave seatbelt laws, btw. The point is simple.. there is no black and white when it comes to people's 'rights' but you seem to think there is with abortion. I believe the woman does not have the right when another life is involved so we disagree which is fine.. I'm just trying to make the point it's an area full of gray and an open and shut case like you claim it to be. I'll let the setup go as I'm sure you can see the point without it... ;)

Fine, don't get it then.  But try and stick to the issue rather than always looking for some other issue to show some sort of contradiction.  Abortion and capitol punishment, seems most are for one and against the other.  Oh well, guess both can be accused of being hypocrites if you want to split hairs.  I one has nothing to do with  the other.

They have everything to do with each other.. killing is killing. The only difference is that the man/woman killed by the courts was at least most likely guilty while the life killed by the abortion was 100% innocent so there really is no hypocrisy except on the side for abortion and against capital punishment. Maybe if we were for lethal injection in order to make more room in the prisons I could see the hypocrisy. :)

I'd like to hear about everyone's day, later peeps.

Spent the day grilling then setup on the top of a parking garage near market street to watch the fireworks. It's kind of a community thing here in the Woodlands.. amazing display over 30minutes long and everyone has a blast.. kind of like a SB tailgate party. :)
