Tough call for Cashman in what might be his last year. If the Yanks don't show some signs of life in the next few weeks, should he even bother making a trade?
his hearts with the yanks and IF it is his last one, you'd think he sticks to his guns and keeps the faith in the system, packs it in IF it need be and doesn't go for a C.C. even though theres a reward behind that with 2 draft picks ( if not signed to a longer term contract )
but, you know how impatient fans of beantown and N.Y. are, they'll want it all yesterday

you guys are really giving up to early its embarassing. when the Yankees are 12 out July 28 then you bring this up. We could easily be 6 games back by thursday we win the next 2 against the sox, the Rays spilt the next 2 against the Royals and then if we win both games against the rays BAM! 6 out.

I still would rather see Hughes, Kennedy, Horne... the young pitchers, take their lumps, than retreads like Ponson, etc... I think Rasner may have hit a ML wall, this year, as well...

If they truly decided to punt the season, pretty much everybody except for A-rod, Jeter, Mo, and Posada.
Giambi's only got a half year left on his deal, and could give some team a serious impact bat for the stretch drive. Damon has another year after this, but could definitely help a contender-same for Matsui.
Just hard to see the Yankees raising the white flag totally and completely. Just not in their DNA. Next couple of weeks are going to be very interesting.

That's what's scary about that franchise-they're so young, and they're ALREADY this good.

and guess what, abez waS JUST telling me their farm has many more pitchers on the way lol
I hate them almost as much as the yanks
and I hate Gomes more than A Rod ( maybe, lol)
Spike Duncan should have taken his head off in the brawl

Not giving up, baller... just being realistic about the way the team looks, currently... you're right in that last year the Yankees were 44-44 at this time, and 9.5 GB, and they went on a huge run to make the playoffs, but there's no guarantee of that, obviously, this year...
