I read the article in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution regarding Jeff Francoeur and his demotion to AA Mississippi for the Braves. The article talks about how he did not sign a long-term extension yet, and how disappointed he is with the demotion.

I think it will be interesting to see how this affects the team's opportunities to re-sign Francoeur in the off-season.

If jeff is that much of an idiot that he will not sign a contract with the Braves because they are trying to help him then forget him.  He can leave if that's the way he feels, but I'm sure he doesn't feel like that and will be signing with us.

You might want to read the article, kingjp. He certainly didn't sound very pleased with the demotion.

My take on this is he comes back and has the monster second half he plans it will all just be a speed bump going forward.

Ifit makes him mad and he never gets over it then that's a character flaw on his part. Swallowing one's pride is hard and i feel for him.

I hope he comes back on fire and realizes that he's lucky to play for a class organization that cared enough to give him some tough love.

Sometimes something kills you right after it happens but with the passage of time it turns out to be one of the best things that could have happened. Hope he realizes this.

One last point .

The article does show that he's upset yet he never runs his mouth about the organization.

He says his peace and says he disagrees with how it was handled. I can't say I disagree with him on that point. He never shows any bitterness and in fact seems to be taking it as a challenge to improve because he wants to show them he is still a great player.

The most telling part of the article to me are these words:

"I was upset [Thursday] night when I got home," Francoeur said. "[Friday] morning, when I woke up, it was anger that I was feeling. Then by the time I got here, I told myself, 'You know what? There's not a damn thing I can do about it now. So there's no reason to sit back and think about it.'

I think it shows some maturity to realize thats it's happened and he can't do any good by sitting in AA and stewing.

Best of luck Jeff and come back and have that monster second half !!!
