Ok, this better be as bad as it gets. Usually the Yankees are streaking and hot at the Allstar Break. This year we have a good first half of June then all of a sudden we're not scoring runs and playing mediocre, sub .500 ball. Taking the final 2 games of the Red Sox series is crucial, and we need to play well against the Rays too. Yankees can't afford to slump this week heading into the break there's too much at stake. This year we are chasing 2 teams not 1.

I agree with you 100%, the Yankees definitely need to turn it up. I looked at the standings, through the same amount of games last year, and they had a worse record, and proceded to win 50 of the final 75 games. That's the run they need to go on again, and I hope that they can do it.

They need to take these final 2 against Boston, and the next 2 against Tampa. If they can do that, they'll definitely help me keep hope alive, but they're really starting to worry me.

GO YANKEES!!!

What gives me hope against Tampa Bay is that they swept a 2 game set in Tampa Bay in April, and the Rays are astounding at home this season. They have only played one series so far at Yankee Stadium this year, and they split the four game set. Overall the season series is even at 5-5. Not too bad play against the best team in the AL (also 3 of those losses were on the road). Today was a good win, but tomorrow is big too. Joba needs to show that he can handle the great rivalry. Expect an offensive revival due to Wakefield's poor history vs. the Yanks(9-16 w/ 5.00+ ERA i think)

It would be nice to see theYanks take 1 more from the sox both from Tampa, and the 1 from Pitts.  Then close it out with 2 out  of 3 from the Blue Jays.

I very much agree. I don't usually like to put SO much emphasis on regular season games (especially ones before the half way point) but this final game with the Sox is really big for their confidence. After playing so crappy these past few games and sneaking away with this last win, if they can get the Sunday game, I think that would be huge. Even though they haven't even been having "Yankee-like" plate appearances, they really don't seem like they have a whole lot of confidence at the moment (and who would with the way they have been playing??). The key, in my opinion, is the guys who know they can hit absolutely need to start producing (ahem....Jeter...Abreu).
