I have noticed with all this free agent signing. The Penguins have lost a lot of players some good some not that good. First you lose Ryan Malone to Tampa, every one knew that it was going to be tough to sigh him. Then you lose Marion Hossa to Detroit, that is still a weird signing. He signed just because he thinks he can get a ring next year. I hope they don't make it to the playoffs. Then you lose Ty Conklin to Detroit, he must be thinking the same as Hossa. Then you have George Laraque to Montreal. That is to name some of the good players that have left.

Then you have the not so-so players that have left. Such as Brian Roberts who signed with Tampa. Then you have Adam Hall also with Tampa and then Jarkko Ruutu who signed with the Ottawa Senators.

How ever the Penguins have made a few signs to make up for who they lost. Lets just hope that they play like they played last season. If they do then I think we ( the Penguins) should be in the finals with out any problems.

Thanks for signing Fleury, Malkin, Orpik, Eaton, and Dupuis to extension. Lets hope that there will be more in the future!!!!

Brian Roberts is a 2nd baseman for the Baltimore Orioles. But I know what you mean. I liked Ryan Malone as much of the next guy, but the Penguins were right to not sign him for that much money, IMO. The Marain Hossa deal went flat out wrong but that was in no way the Penguins fault. I really think they should have resigned Jarko Ruutu but it didnt happen. They have done a great job locking up Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleuy. That is what is most important. I was really happy to see them get Brooks Orpik back. We are stacked right now with defenseman. I'm glad they got Satan and Fedotenko as well. They picked up Godard for alot cheaper than we could keep Georges Laraque so I guess that was a good move too. I think the Penguins will be just fine, maybe pick up a couple more wings and a veteran goalie to back up MAF, but I guess I am pleased with what Ray Shero did so far. Would have been alot different if Hossa didnt pull his stunt to run off and sign for one year in Detroit.  He better hope for aninjury free year or that could really blow up in his face.

Of all the people we lost, I think the one that's gonna hurt the most is losing Ruutu.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, WE DON'T NEED HOSSA!!!!  We were contenders before he got here, he was just supposed to be the guy who put us over the top.  Seeing as how 4 of our top 5 players are under 25 years years old and 3 of them are locked up for at least 5 years, we're going to get better every year.  I didn't want to see Ryan Malone go but I am glad we didn't pay him that kind of money.  I know it's a business but for a team that could've sent him packin for the last 3 years but kept givin him chances, he could've played for a little less, maybe 3 million a year for 1 or 2 years, and if he kept playing at the level he was at last year we would give him more money.  Losing Laraque isn't bad at all.  We picked up Godard and he's younger, cheaper and will probably end up being better overall than Laraque.  Adam Hall can be replaced, but losing a right handed shooter  when you have hardly any always hurts.  We need to dish out Sydor asap though.  His experience was valuable in the Cup Finals but now that they've all been there you can't justify paying him 2.5 million for his experience alone, and he doesn't have the speed to keep up with the younger, faster forwards anymore.  I really liked the fact that we signed Satan and Fedotenko to one-year deals.  I was never really impressed with either of them, but they can both be more than just a stop-gap player next year.  BTW Colby Armstrong's contract is up next year and I'd love to see him come back as would most Penguin fans.  I would've loved to have Naslund and Demitra and playing alongside Crosby next year.  If not both then at least Naslund.  He would've been a perfect fit for Sid (i.e. Malkin and Sykora).   The only thing that sucked about not getting Jagr was that he would've put all the money we paid him right back into our casinos.  I don't know a whole lot about this Pesonen character we just picked up but hopefully he won't flop as hard as Morozov did.  The one thing that really aggrivated me was the resigning of Mark Eaton.  He's had injury problems for the last 3 years and you sign him up for 2 more years?  If anything he should've only gotten one year.  IMO we should've let him go and used that money to hang on to Jarkko Ruutu.  And I had to save the best for last.  Gary Roberts aka God, you will be missed greatly.  You were what the city of Pittsburgh embraces.  You won your battles with hard work, grit, toughness, and intimidation.  You'll always be a cult hero here in the Burgh.  You never know, maybe (hopefully), we'll see you back here in a Pens uniform where you belong by the time it's all said and done.  Good luck to everyone who parted ways with the Pens after this season, except for you Marian Hossa.  You backstabbing son of a b!tch.  I hope you never win a Cup.  You lost the respect of every Pens fan I know.  That's all I got to say about Hossa.  I'll save the rest for whenever he's sitting up against the boards stunned next year in a Red Wings jersey watching the team he betrayed hoist the cup.  Sorry for the rambling, I'm all done now.

Go Pens

Disabled,

I disagree with you on one point, and that point is that Georges Laraque is a good players and Jarkko Ruutu is a so-so player.  Did you ever watch a Penguins game?  While both players are players who are rough and will fight and play physical, Ruutu can at least skate, Laraque can't.  Every time I saw Laraque in an NHL uniform, it amazed me that a guy with his poor skating ability was playing in the NHL.  Laraque was just an enforcer and never looked comfortable on the ice, I watched games expecting Laraque to fall.  I believe losing Ruutu is worse than losing Laraque for that reason and that Ruutu could also score some goals and make some plays.

Miroslav Satan will put up at least the same numbers as Malone did last year for $1 million cheaper.  I would rather have 3 good wingers instead of Hossa.  If the Pens signed Hossa they would have 1 great line and that's it.  Now they can have 3 solid lines.
