Skipping events so you don't lose points?  What a wuss.  I now have a new least favorite player.  He seems like the anti-Tiger to me right now.  He could still make the Ryder if he played even decent at Torrey and/or St Andrews.  How little confidence does he have?

You play in the majors so you have a chance to go down in history.  Who plays the game to be mediocre?  Hard to root for that.  At least play out of respect for the game - if you don't have respect for yourself.   It is not like he needs the money from these other tournaments.

I hope the Americans don't come out in support of this gutless loser at the Ryder.  Just leave him on an Island by himself where he can be blasted by Europeans and Americans alike.

Chipper Jones was hitting .400 a few weeks ago.  If Perry were in the same situation he would probably just sit for the rest of the season, or maybe ask to be sent down to the minors.  I don't usually get worked up over golfers, but I just think this is pathetic.  Boo Kenny Perry!

Oh, please...you're as bad as those whiny Brits...

So he chooses not to play the majors...big deal, that's his choice...most players focus on the majors, Kenny decides to focus on the Ryder Cup...what's the difference?  Making the Ryder team is all about who's playing the best, regardless of the course and/or venue...

I did an analysis of the top 15 in Ryder Cup points...Perry is second to Woods in total wins, he's tied for 3rd in top 10s, tied for 3rd in top 25s, and of these top 15 he was second best at the Players...and among these top 15 guys, their total top 10 and top 25 in the majors is 7 and 19, with quite a few missed cuts and one WD...and you would take any of these guys over Perry just because they played in the majors (and not very well, at that)???

Perry is playing as well as anyone on the tour, and that's good enough for me...he deserves a Ryder Cup spot...and to hell with what the Brits and others here in the USA think...

he's creating very bad karma for himself.  do we really want this kind of character on our team?  a team that's had their arse handed to them by the eurotrash without added controversy and pressure.  snub your nose at the Brits and fall flat on your face in front of a hometown crowd; good work KP!

That post is ridiculous.  He doesn't have to play in any tourny he doesn't want to.  He has a goal of representing his country in the Ryder Cup.  Now that he has essentially locked up that goal he is staying with his prior committments, and that should be commended.  I wish he was playing in the Brittish Open, but he doesn't want to.  And guess what, it is his decision to make.  He has earned it.

Hmm...let's see...stay close to home, play a nice parkland layout, and compete in Milwaukee.  Or, fly 7+ hours, lose most of your money due to a horrible exchange rate, play a cow pasture like Royal Birkdale (face it, other than St Andrews most of those links courses are all the same crap), and then have to fly 7+ hours back (at 47, Kenny Perry doesn't look like sitting in a plane seat for that long would be too good physically).

Sounds like a no-brainer to me...stay at home!

If he is playing as well as anyone, why wouldn't he want to play against the best?  With his 2 wins, he has pretty much locked up his spot on the Ryder Cup team, why not take that hot streak over to the British.  He would probably get more points for a quality finish in the British anyways.

Captain Azinger is keeping quiet, but being the type of player and person he is, it is probably driving him nuts.

I can see that you are a real expert.  If  Perry plays at St. Andrews, he gets nothing!!!  Why?  "Cause there is no tournament at St. Andrews".  For your information the Open Championship will be held at Royal Birkdale.

who won last years US Bank Championship?  who won the British?   exactly.  get on the plane Kenny, it's not like you're flying coach and renting headphones for the in-flight showing of Mrs Doubtfire.
