Ty Conklin? Now THAT is an excellent example of a good free agent signing by the Red Wings. With Dominik Hasek's retirement, Detroit needed a good backup goalie, and Conklin performed very well for the Penguins during Fleury's injury last year. The Red Wings aren't sure Jimmy Howard is (or ever will be, for that matter) ready for the bigs, so getting Conklin on the cheap is great.
I like the Lilja and Stuart re-signings, too. And I wouldn't mind getting Mats Sundin, as long as it doesn't break the bank. I read about a rumor that the Red Wings were looking at Todd Bertuzzi again.....nononononononoNONONONO!!
