Matt May reported earlier today that UK-UNC may be the opening game of the season this year and will kick off ESPN’s basketball coverage for the season. #1 team on their home floor with a national audience. Welcome to college Darius, DeAndre, Kevin and Josh!

I don't think that's a good idea Kentucky and North Carolina could play few cupcakes for warm up's before the game.

Jason, every team plays a few "pre-season" exhibition games before the regular season kicks off. It's usually against an NAIA or lower division team. That should be more than enough to prepare. I can't stand when teams feel they need to schedule a cupcake team before a game against a good team.

Do you really believe a UK team relying heavily on freshman will be ready for UNC after two exhibition games???

Do you really believe a UK team relying heavily on freshman will be ready for UNC after two exhibition games???I don't think they would be ready to face them at any point in the season if you want an honest opinion. Better to catch them on the first game when they haven't played any games yet rather than getting them after they have a few games under their belt. When do y'all want the game if not at the start of the year?

------------

I don't see how that is relavant to anyone but the team that relies on Freshmen. Why should another team feel sorry for a team that depends on Freshmen? I'm not picking on UK here at all. I have said every year that I don't like the fact that coaches with young teams (for the most part) schedule pathetic teams, at home mind you, just to ease that young team into CBB. It is done many times every year. I understand the so-called logic, but I feel that is babying them. If Freshmen are so vital to teams, and are considered better than seniors that stick around for 4 years, why shouldn't they get thrown into the fire?

I will say in UK's defense that they usually play a good non-conference schedule.
