Why? Because they beat OSU? Were USC, WVU and others not capable of beating OSU also?

I wasn't talking about anything accept your premise.

You said they weren't legitimate because only 50% of the coaches thought them and OSU were 1/2.

However, after the bowl games LSU got all the coaches 1st place votes by default and 60 out of 65 from the AP, so by the standard you put out, they were legitimate correct?

I mean I don't want to get into an argument about how much the system blows. I agree. Of course USC could have beaten OSU as many teams could have (not bashing OSU, just talking about how anyone can beat anyone). The fact is, LSU made it and they are the champions.

It's a subjective process of course, but I'm not going to pick and choose who I count as champions. LSU won the championship game. They are champions in my mind, same as if OSU would have won (although I'd probably be b****in' about it hehe).

Do you think the final voting by the coaches was affected by the lobbying of Coach Richt and/or Coach Carroll?

I think the voters listened to the cases presented by UGA and USC.

??? They didn't make the title game, so how did their lobbying work?

Do you mean because they made the BCS games? I don't think lobbying had anything to do with that as both teams were capable of being in the title game. They didn't need to lobby.

Just like the year before when Coach Meyer successfully lobbied to sway the voters to get UF into the NCG,

Are we still on this? Meyer did not lobby for votes Please go back and watch the quote in question that everyone gets on about. He was responding to a question about whether he thought Michigan should get a rematch.

USC was ahead of UF as well and he did not mention them. It was specifically a question about Michigan and he answered it. It's not like he held a press conference to pimp his team.

Should he have said, "Yes, by all means. Michigan should go to the championship and get a rematch with the sole qualification of losing to a good team closely and we should be left out despite our murderous schedule." I mean, what should he have said?

PCk...we can see the love oozing out of your keyboards and I like it.

That's ok, why the majority of the voters did think they got it right , it was not an overwelming majority, thus your post and we MUST look deeper into the past. Lets look at it from BCS conferences and see who we had to chose from:

  1. SEC - LSU 2 losses and was the outright conference champion (Tenn was runnerup)
  2. PAC10 - USC...2 losses but didnt  win their conference outright , shared with ASU.
  3. Big East - WVU 2 losses but didnt  win their conference outright , shared with Conneticut.
  4. ACC- VT had 2 losses and was the outright conference champion.
  5. Big10 - OSU had 1loss and was the outright conference champion.
  6. Big12 - Oklahoma had 2 losses and was the outright conference champion.

Do a little math and we are left standing with VT, LSU, OSU and Oklahoma in the final running. OSU is a no brainer...they only had 1 loss so that leaves us with VT, LSU and OU.

PCk...you chose from the last 3 and let me know what would have been the correct matchup. (Note Please do not take into consideration that only LSU WON the final bowl game, this is before the bowls.)

The West Virginia and USC outcomes almost beg for a conference champioship game. Both teams could have pulled themselves back into the NCG mix with games against conference foes, who were potentially ranked, although  I don't believe either was deserving.
