We have to remember guys, we had the first place team in the east last year. Our players are a year older and wiser, and that much more hungry. We've improved in our forwards by replacing Ryder with Tanguay, and I don't think Streit is going to be a huge loss, especially considering he wasn't one of our top defensemen. I also think that Josh Gorges is really going to end up playing more big minutes for us this year, since last year he really showed huge improvements.
The other thing to consider with Detroit is that injuries do happen, and there is that thing called "Stanley Cup hangover".
