This is all here se. A "source" told Mortensen that Favre SUPPOSEDLY told Mike McCarthy he has an itch to play. In what context. Was the story confirmed by McCarthy or Favre. GMAFB people. Does anyone realize how pathetic this makes ESPN, and really all football fans look. Let's face it, NONE OF YOU can face the reality of a Favre-less NFL. Why is this even a story? I'll tell you why, it's not because Favre is or isn't having the NATURAL, RIGHTFUL and OBVIOUS pangs and wonderings of whether he should continue to play (FYI he doesn't owe anyone anything), no this is about it being a slow time in sports and Favre being the BIGGEST LEGEND (didn;t say greatest player or QB, I said greatest LEGEND) the NFL has ever had and frankly they are dreading this first year without him in the league.

kaara,  Good post and you may have a valid point.

Brett Favre has been a feel good story for the NFL for years.  He has been one of the most successful quarterbacks of all time and he seems like an average guy that lives next door.  He has never flaunted his wealth with fancy bling and he does not try to maintain his street cred by hanging with and getting in trouble with his old high school homies.

Sure Favre has had some issues like the pain killers addiction but he over came it.  We all saw how he handled his wife's health issues, his father's death and some other trajedies.

If Favre plays again I will cheer him on (unless he's playing the Chargers) and if he stays retired I will always remember how fun it was to watch him play.

Let's just look at what time of year it is. It is no wonder they are bringing up mess like this.

Mid-season baseball: Good to me, but most people don't care.

No NBA. Draft is over. Nothing work mentioning now because free agents can't even sign yet.

They give NHL all of 5 minutes in the season. They're lucky to get 30 seconds a week in the off-season.

NASCAR only needs time on Monday and the weekend.

WNBA... yea, right. Same with soccer.

No college sports.

ESPN just tries to force football into 30+ minutes on sportscenter because they have nothing else worth showing. This is how this wound up on ESPN. It is only newsworthy to those few who won't let go of Favre and the mid-90's.

Is that hearsay or heresy?  Hearsay, per se?

A source told me that you love CAPS.

A team mate stated today, on ESPN,  that he told him that he "still has the itch."

Well he has asked the Packers to re instate him so it's more than just ESPN filling airtime by making up stories.

And please don't tell me what I can and cannot face. . I like Favre but I think I'll survive if he stays retired. I might even still watch football lol.

The NFL has bigger "Legends"  than Favre to those of us over 20 lol

He's going to play again, just not for GB. Write it down
