Ron Artest did not opt out of his contract and barring a trade will play for the Kings this year. An offer was also made to Beno Udrih to stick around. The deal is will be around 6 mil/yr for 4 yrs. I like both of these moves, they are two of the hardest working players on the team. My only concern is that Ron and John Salmons do not play well together and that needs to be fixed.
How do you feel about these moves?
Go Kings!

Beno Udrih's contract is five years and 33.3 million, with an option at the end of his fourth. I'd like to move Salmons or Artest with another player (possibly Beno) to get someone like Kirk Hinrich.
I can see Artest and Moore, for Hinrich.

i definitly want Ron gone! and although we do need a PG I feel that we paid way to much for him. i would have rather gone after a fill in guy like Chris Duhon for a year or two and then see what else is out there. tying yourself down to Beno for 5 years may be a big mistake. but i cant complain too much, i didnt even think we would get Beno to begin with. so at least we have an NBA caliber starting PG.

Well, now Ron has said that he thinks he made a big mistake by no opting out of his contract. Saying he got some misleading information in staying.
So I say, as I have said about other ppl, if they don't want to play for us then trade him. I have been a Ron fan since he got here, but if he is gonna piss and moan then get him out. We don't need that on our team.
Also, John Salmons can step in and play well an SF. His defense is not as good as Artest and he is not yet a leader either, but he can certainly get there. So, I like some of your ideas of bringing in Duhon or Hinrich and if we could get them for artest that would be great.

If we traded Artest, Salmons and Beno for Kirk Heinrich, then I would stop watching Kings basketball for the rest of my life and Geoff Petrie would be fired immediately. I wouldn't even trade Beno straight up for Heinrich.
I would be perfectly fine with trading Artest (and from what I've been reading it's a strong possibility that we will) for a younger big guy. I even read the rumor about Josh Howard, which I would like too.
I am of the opinion that Beno is a very good PG and that there are few, if any, players available that we could bring in who would take the starting job from him.

Sorry, I misread your post, you said Artest or Salmons with Beno, Needless to say though, I would hate that trade as well.
If the Bulls thought that Heinrich was such as spectacular player, to the point where we would have to trade Ron Artest and Mikki Moore for him, then they would not have drafted Derrick Rose. They would've gone with Beasley for sure. The fact is that Kirk Heinrich is a decent PG in this league. He's solid, but completely unspectacular and, at best, has equal the talent of Beno, but more realistically he's not Beno's equal.
Artest will command an all-star caliber player in return and Heinrich is far from an All-Star. If we wanted to trade for Heinrich, a fair value player from our team would be somebody like Douby.

Ya, as I think about it, it isn't the best trade, but I do think that Kirk Hinrich is a bit underrated.
