I, similar to Tampa and Bluegirl, grew up in Michigan close to South Bend.  Everyone was either a UofM fan or an ND fan.  That was undoubtedly the biggest rivilary - and still is that area of Michigan (and in Northern Indiana).  I really enjoyed seeing ND struggle last year on the football field.  I see they are picked to make a big comeback this year.  It will be a tough game when UofM travels to ND.  I recall watching a handful of games at ND (back when touchdown Jesus was still visible from the field).  I respect ND as an institution of higher learning but love seeing UofM beat them.

I would suggest the

Similar to TAMPA and MGOBLUEGIRL, I grew up in southwestern Michigan close to South Bend.  In that area, people are largely either UofM fans or ND fans.  It was (and is) undoubtedly the biggest rivilary.  The level of competition has nothing to do with legitimate rivilaries.  For example, I loved seeing ND struggle on the football field last year - but it was still great to see UofM beat them.   I see that ND is picked by most writers to make a BIG comeback this year.  I recall watching a handful of games at ND, when touchdown Jesus was still visible from the playing field.

I would suggest that MSU is the second biggest rivilary.  The in-state competition is something that many schools in the Big Ten do not experience or understand.  To prove that point, just wait for a OSU fan to post the "you UofM fans are all alike, you can't beat us so you have to soothe yourselves with chasing a rivilary you can handle" post.

SORRY ABOUT THE MULTIPLE POSTINGS - NOT SURE HOW THAT HAPPENED.  JUST READ THE LAST ONE.

class0f68, like me, remembers the days of Duffey's (Dougherty) Bubba Smith teams -- the days of the 10-10 ND tie.  Now that was a football team.  To understand the UM/MSU rivalry, you have to understand that for a while -- quite a while -- it really was a war.

Hopefully, it will be again.

I remember the Perles era at MSU - they were pretty tough then too!

I like the Little Brown Jug rivalry with Minnie too, but I guess I take it for granted that UM is going to win.  I suppose that is the reason that UM's campus boasts the lovely "Brown Jug" restaurant/bar?  Come on - how many of you who went to school there have been in that place to either start or end an evening?  For those who did not, if you ever go to AA for a game, check it out!

I agree with SAM, Michigan/Notre Dame is the biggest rivalry in my mind, there is something about Notre Dame's insane popularity and football accomplishments that make it for a special game.  UM/OSU may be considered the biggest one, but to me the UM/ND game was always more special.

On CBS the tab is not your friend.  After you hit the tab the "cursur" goes tot he Post box and every letter that you hit makes a post.

As much as I like to see UofM  play ND I wish the entire Big 10 stop playing ND until they join a conference. Those cowards will never join a conference unless the NCAA forces them to like thye basically did in basketball.
