To compound our already thin roster, Aramis Ramirez will miss three games while attending to a "family matter' of an undisclosed nature in the Dominican Republic. This should make tonight's lineup look like this : Soto, Lee, Cedeno, Theriot and DeRosa around the horn, Fukudome, Edmonds and probably Murton for tonight against the lefty Zito, and then for the next two games, Soto, Lee, Fontenot, Theriot, DeRosa with Fukudome, Edmonds and Patterson in the outfield spots. Really need the kids to step up these next three games, as well as the obvious need for Lilly to continue what he has been doing and for BIG rebound games by Marquis and Dempster who were both awful in their last outing. Thursday we welcome back Reed Johnson and Aramis, and Zambrano the following day. While Soriano believes he will be back in time for the All-Star game, realistically I don't think he rejoins the lineup until the Houston-Arizona road trip. Let's turn it around Cubbies!!!!

It sounds to me like Alfonso Soriano is dead set on getting back to play in the all-star game.  I just hope he doesn't rush himself back and reinjure himself, we all saw what happened with Derrek Lee and his wrist injury.

Awesome, I love it our minor league team plays against a mojor league team.  Well hopefully we can beat the Giants with that roster.

Probably not a bad thing with Ramy out for a few days.  Nada for 13 says he needs some think time on how to adjust to the inside portion of the dish.

My guess is that with him gone DeRo will be at 3rd and Opie (murton) will get the call in left.  We cannot have any more Patterson moments out there and Cedeno does not have the arm...at least not any better than Murton.  Will be an interesting 3-4 days before St Louis.

On the plus side, we're playing the Giants. Let's focus on the good. The bad news is we are playing them with the Iowa Cubs. With the exception of Derrek Lee and Mark DeRosa, none of these guys were regular starters on the 2007 team. I had thought a few days ago that this is a series the Cubs should take 3 of 4, but a split is starting to look nice, especially with Tim Linsecomb (sp?) going to the hill on Thursday. We'll be getting our horses back for the Cardinals series, which is a very good thing. Hopefully Aramis Ramirez can get some rest on his little vacation and Lee can start to find his April swing again. As was pointed out in another thread, it'll be a dang nice thing to see Alfonso Soriano back in the lineup. They've looked a bit lost without him lately.

Just heard on ESPN 1000 that Aramis will miss 3 days because his wife will be giving birth in the dominican.

Great just great not a good time for this to happen when we are hurting enough. However if it is the birth of a child great for Rammy. I just hope he comes back ready to pull his head out of his ass and start playing well again.
