I am a Gator fan but I like Maryland too. Bambale Osby was my favorite NCAA player. I know that he was a senior this year and I was wondering what you guys think. Is he going to get drafted, and if so when ?
Do you like his name or something? Maryland's my team and even I can't understand how he would be at the top of anyone's favorite list. No way he gets drafted and he will be back renovating cars, which he loves to do, in no time. He had a fantastic game against Carolina, but very unimpressive down the stretch and disappeared in a whole lot of games (similar to the entire MD team this year). Put him up against better competition and he'd be non-existent. Nothing personal against him because he seemed like a guy who you never questioned his effort...just his skill-set.
Thanks VCT, Im not sure why I like Bambale Osby so much. I think because my favorite NBA player is Ben Wallace and that is who I see when I look at him. It is very dissapointing to hear that there is no way that he gets drafted, but I guess thats the way it going to be.
He'd be a decent role player on a team in need of a big man, but only late in the year or after an injury, so no he probably will not be drafted. If he somehow did get drafted, it would most likely be by a team like Washington, New York, Seattle, or Denver if the rumored trade with the Nets goes through.
I love Bam too, but i have to agree he won't get drafted. HOWEVER, I do think he should continue to play somewhere and get exposure to NBA scouts. He has the size, he has shown the touch and he has the ability. . . he just has to put it all together, which i think he can AND will do in time. A perfect situation is (like said above) he make himself shine and exposed late in the season, when certain teams are hurt and need another role playing big man mostly for fouls available in the playoffs.
I agree MRYLNd, I think Osby should try to get on a team in a league in Greece like Gerry McNamera and Lee Humphrey did. Bambale would tear it up there for a while, get some work, and maybe sign a contract with an NBA team.....we can only hope.
