Here we go, Lakers fans, our team has accomplished a lot this season and it's time to discuss what we should do and dont do for this off season to make us a better team next yr...couple facts here

  1. Odom's status-Phil wants a headbanger in the middle and a shooter at SF position,  with bynum back, that problem is solved but leave Odom replaceable. Odom down to his last yr (14mil contract), should we move him? If we do, whom should we get in return?
  2. Our Own Free agents: Sasha is the 3 pt threat we've been missing for so long, he's still got room to improve, should we sign him? If so, how much?? Bynum probably will be resigned next yr, do we have the cap? same for Kobe in 2 yr, plus role players like Ariza (last yr of his 3mil contract) who in my opinion is a must sign, and Ronny, the energy guy who can rebound and shotblock. Who should we get rid of? Luke and Radmonivich, anyone??
  3. Outside Free Agents: Lakers are so young, we definitely lack some veteran leadership and experience during the critical time. Should we sign one veteran to our squad? what about our lousy defense? Should we beef up our D through free agents?

I think we should resign Sasha, Rony and Ariza. I would'nt mind seeing Walton, Vlad and maybe even Odom traded for a starting SF and back up center. Dump Mihm if possable. The Lakers just need to get more physical. Pau needs to get in the weight room this summer. He is to weak in the paint.

Last offseason, Kobe Bryant was unhappy. He wanted the Los Angeles Lakers to trade him and questioned the team's efforts to build a championship-caliber roster.

But now that the Lakers' season has ended with a runner-up finish in the NBA Finals, Bryant says he's satisfied with the team the Lakers have now and with their future prospects, according to Los Angeles-area media reports.

"I'm comfortable with what we have," he said Thursday after an exit interview with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak and coach Phil Jackson. "Whatever Mitch decides to do, he decides to do. It's more of a relaxing summer for me because I know we have an opportunity to win. It's exciting.

"We know we got close and came up a little bit short. I'm excited about the opportunity to get back next year if we're fortunate enough and have a different result."

Last season, when the Lakers' season ended with a first-round playoff exit, Bryant was upset and publicly demanded a trade. He questioned whether the team had lived up to its promise to him when he re-signed that it would build a roster capable of winning an NBA title. And he was videotaped criticizing Kupchak and teammate Andrew Bynum.

Bryant was booed during the 2007-08 home opener and a trade seemed likely. But the Lakers, spurred by Bynum and then by midseason acquisition Pau Gasol, finished the season two wins shy of an NBA title, and Bryant won his first league MVP award.

On Thursday, Kobe indicated that he's confident the Lakers, a relatively young roster, can improve.

"Not to say that the loss doesn't sting, because it does and it will, but I get back up pretty quickly and start thinking about revenge," he said. "I think what it does for us, is it teaches us how to win. The hunger was there, but Boston's experience wore us down a little bit.

"We have a team here that's very good," Bryant continued. "Boston played better, they played more physical than we were. But at the same time, you look around at our roster, they're young kids.

"We managed to do something that I don't think anybody expected us to do. It's a great learning opportunity for them at a young age to come back next year, knowing what to expect, knowing how to perform and what the goal is in mind. We'll be fine."

And Bryant -- who will join Team USA next week in Las Vegas for a minicamp -- said he won't be giving Kupchak any more roster advice.

"You're all trying to see if I'm going to do Mitch's job for him this summer," he said. "I'm not. I leave it up to him. He's done a great job of building this team."

This article was from ESPN.  Sorry for the long text.

With that said, it sounds like Kobe is pretty satisfied with the team.

I think we need don't need to make a lot of moves.  We have to get tough, and we can find that within.  These guys need to hit the gym in the summer and bulk up.

As I mentioned from the other threads, I would still love to have Odom but with 14 million and probably wanting more, it would be nice to trade him while we still has value.

Luke, Vlad and Mihm must go.  Maybe we can get a decent back up for Bynum and a defensive SF.  Getting rid of these 3 should not be a chemistry impacting move.

Some people mentioned to trade Gasol.  Common guys.   We would not even get the West top seed, yet to the finals without his presence.  Since we are paying Kareem to help Bynum, he should be training Gasol on how to make those hook shots instead of the weenie lay ups.  On a good note, I think Pau is playing for Spain this summer so that should take care of the off season  work out for him.

I think it was just suggested for Pau, LV ... he was in my humble opinion the whole reason from the Lakers going from mid season disaster to Western Conference Champs when Bynum went down.  Everybody stepped up and the guy made the Lakers a better "UNIT"

As opposed to Vlad Rad, not LakerVlad per say , I think everybody knows I don't think very highly of a 6'10 spot shooter who can't defend, can I say just a stiff who is taking up bench space?  I like Ariza just to continue the theme of defense and rebounding, the guy missed most of the season so I would love to see him get a full pre-season and how he works into the system.  Mihm, why lie, he should have been gone along time ago ... for Luke, regardless of fan favorite or not, heck so was Chuck Nevitt back in the 80's and George Lynch, you can only keep a guy on the roster and give him so many opportunities but he has to come up in the big games and Luke's time to shine is growing smaller and smaller.  The Lakers should step away from spot up shooters ... heck DFish is one but he's a good defender ... even Sasha has defended pretty well, can't say that for Walton or Vlad Rad at all.  Odom, dang 14 Mil, man if you even ask Lamar I don't even think he thinks he's worth that much after the finals.

We need to emphasize the rebounds and defense, if we don't might as well be the Phoenix Suns or Dallas Mavericks, all offense and a great regular season, only to stink it up in the playoffs.  When you think of NBA defenders and toughness, and yes you bring in some cred off the streets as well ... Artest comes to mind.  Like I said, Mitch .... hello ... Mitch ... the guy is cheaper than Lamar and he wants to play for a Contender ... uh, is this thing on ... Mitch ... OR does Jerry Buss have to tell you again like he did for Gasol, get Artest already.

Well I don't think Artest is the end all be all for the SF position. But I agree that Vlad, Odom and even Walton should go. I wouldn't mind seeing Turiaf go too if the right trade came around. Hold onto Sasha and Ariza, along with Farmar. Those three are good bench guys.

Artest is an option but so is Richard Jefferson. The problem with Artest is that he isn't great at spreading the floor, something that needs to be done with the triangle. Could get clogged up with Bynum, Gasol, Kobe driving and Artest in the post.
