Actually they were both 3rd round picks. Calhoun #74 overall and Smith #64 overall.
and the zone blocking scheme they are implementing in Detroit this year is the same scheme he excelled under at Wisconsin.
Wisconsin had a much better O-Line than Detroit has. And as far as college careers go, Smith's was way better than Calhoun's. What they did in college really doesn't matter though.
I'm not going to say Smith is a top RB(especially not as a rookie and not behind our O-Line) but I think he will be better than Calhoun.
