There seems to be a rumored trade hitting the NY media over the last couple of days. The trade is Robinson Cano for Roy Oswalt.  I know Oswalt has a no-trade and is having a so-so season , but the trade is tempting as Cano has been in a season long funk.

I would  give a timid vote to decline this trade.

I was driving in this morning and heard it on WFAN.
First Benigno and Evan mentioned it from WFAN, than a little later they have Singleton on, and it was mentioned of the trade rumors for Cano, that Singleton said he had heard of it.

Yeah there will be a ton of Cano rumors over the next month or so.  However, I get the feeling that Cashman is reluctant to unload him and probably won't end up trading him.  One reason might be that they don't really have another option at second that is halfway decent.  Plus even though Cano has not hit he at least provides a pretty good glove at second.

well this is not a trade rumor, houston just gave matsui a nice contract they dont need cano. however i would use cano as a chip for a top flight sp, no need for a second baseman that can hit and is an avg at best fielder.

Well you may be right, but consider this.

The AL is not nearly as tough as the last few season(s). Teams that were supposed to be strong this year ( Det, Cleve, Sea, and Tor ) are all having a rough season. Although there are surprises, ( TB, Balt,  Minn and Chisox) the Yanks may feel that 90 -92 wins gets a wild card position.  And the Yanks may be 1 SP away from getting to that record.

So if the Yanks feel that Cano or possibly Melky is not going to help the Yanks get to that goal, they might pull the trigger.   In this Houston rumor, Oswalt is only 31.

Although, like I said earlier, I am relunctant to give up on Cano.

LIke I said never happen Cano has great glove and he's what 25 wait by year end he'll be hitting 300 with around 20 hr and about 90 RBI.  I understand Oswalt is only 31 still somewhat young but I don't really see a need for him again if the Yankees what a top flight pitcher why don't they just wait and see what happens with CC they might only have to give up $$$$$$$$$ to get him but we all know the yanks have that.  by saying this i mean wait till next year with him when he becomes FA

A season long funk??? This is just typical Robbie Cano. He will really heat up after the all star break and be hitting around .300 by the end of the year. The Yankees don't need to experiment with the NL to AL fiasco again.
