Brett Favre was one of a kind, there is no better competitor, tougher QB, and a canon for an arm. Think what would have happened if he didn't play in a frozen climate that eliminates the passing game. As a Bears fan, I always feared playin the Packers because of Favre. Favre I hate your freakin guts, but da$n it, I respect you.
I know Patriots haters won't like this---it's just MO. Mind you, I think Montana is close, this early in Brady's career. So did the 49ers make Montana, or reverse? I think Joe made them. In fact, I think Montana MADE Bill Walsh, and not reverse. Did the Pats make Brady? I think NO, the opposite. Favre made the Packers. He could make alot of teams look real good. Staubach was his era's Top Dog. He seldom lost, especially BIG games. I hated the Cowboys his whole career! Dan Marino was a great technician. He didn't really have what it took to win it all. I've been concerned about Donovan McNabb in this same way for a couple of years. If only McNabb was HALF the passer Marino was..........I almost think the Dolphins made Marino. McNabb (AND Andy Reid) made the Eagles.
I got to see YOUNG Favre (on the Falcons) in a mop-up role vs. Philly 100 years ago.
To make this a fair comparison I say that we should break a couple of vertibrae in Brady's back and see if he can keep that passer rating after coming back after that injury for the last half of his career.
I think this is a fair thing thing to factor in. Brady nor Manning have played with serious injury or had to come back from one. I know Favre played thru a seperated shoulder, dislocated thumb (throwing hand), sprained knee and the list could go on. Without a doubt Favre was the most durable and the biggest competitor not to mention owning all the major qb records.
