First of all, I’m a little shocked that nobody got around to posting this link earlier. While the Packer and Viking fans are busy debating who the best in the division, us Bears fans are sitting quiet with our thumbs up our butts. Hell- even the Lions fans are posting thread after thread on this upcoming season.
Let me ask you something, my fellow Bear fans. Are we really up for this years season? Are we full of hope and optimism, while secretly dreading what we truly believe the final outcome will be? I know after reading article after article about how the Bears will fall even further than they did last year, it’s harder for me to believe that my optimism is going to hold true.
I just want to see some of the heart that we as Bears fans had last year. I want to see some of that fire that we had for OUR team.
Maybe this will fire you up:
(L) x 20 to Colts
(L ) x 14 to Panthers
(L) x 03 to Bucks
(L) x 10 to Eagles
(L) x 07 to Lions
That’s an 0-5 start for you not following along
(W) x 07 to Falcons ( We finally win one? )
(L) x 10 to Vikes
Bye Week ( 1-6 record )
(W) x 06 to Lions
(L) x 06 to Titans
(L) x 10 to Packers
(W) x 01 to Rams
(L) x 14 to Vikes ( They just swept us )
(L) x 07 to Jaguars
(W) x 07 to Saints
(L) x 07 to Packers ( They sweep us too )
(L) x 01 to Texans
Judging by this we should be able to get a great QB in the draft next year. Plus- I’m sure we’ll have to plug him straight in that year so that’ll knock us back for a few more years while he learns the system. I guess we are screwed for the next 3 to 4 years guys.
Any heartfelt thoughts?

And, the number of threads and posts are going to have a direct effect on those teams records? I don't think so. And, most Bears fans are smart enough to know that "experts" are rarely better at predictions than the average joe.
The bottom line is we have diagnosed to death what was wrong with this team and frankly, we have to see in TC and exhibition games if these issues have been adequately addressed. Until then, it is all pulling a prediction out of thin air. I can look at the schedule and make a case to win 12, 13 games. But, it would be based on nothing real. It would be all specualtion. The Vikings fans have real reason to be excited as Adrian Peterson is the most exciting offensive force in the division. Packers fans are hyping their team because they are in denial over the real chance that they no longer have a quality QB. Lions fans have to be optimistic, otherwise there would be no feel good to their season. Once the games start their teams' record is usually a downer.
There is nothing wrong Bears fans on these boards or any where else. We will get excited if and when the Bears give us something to be excited about. Other than a holding on to some defensive talent, there is not a whole lot of positive to talk about. That can change, but until it does, it would be mindless gum bumping.

First off, I agree with Jazzman. To quote Doug Buffone, "That's why they play the damn game." I choose to reserve my judgment until I see them play some games.
Secondly, the guy who made this prediction bases his projections on a bunch simulated games. Basically, I could do the same thing by playing Madden 08, and I could probably get other results. Does that seem credible to you? Seriously, the guy who wrote that crap "article" is a typical tool. He actually said, "why do the Bears keep drafting tight ends?" when talking about the Bears wide receivers. Weren't they getting ripped on for not doing this too long ago? Oh my, they committed a sin by drafting a TE in two consecutive drafts. Please. Who knows, maybe the double-tight end set might be used with Desmond Clark and Greg Olsen, but his little simulation game wouldn't know that would it?

Yeah Jazz is right I'm just tired of talking about the same old things. I was excited for the draft and free agency but now that all thats over there is nothing we can really say anymore. We can talk about how good/bad players look in training camp but that would be a waste. Last year the Bears got ESPN love about there "fast" offense during TC. That turned out to be wrong!
Until the preseason starts or the Bears make a move to fill another need then there really isn't much to say at this point. We will see how the North shakes out soon enough.

Lol, gave me a good laugh their but seriously.....
I know the offense could struggle a bit until they get used to all the new players but I for one think this Bears team will be better then last years version and I will detail why below...
(A) the QB carosoul will end this year, last season we went threw (3) different starters due to injury and poor performance, (4) technicly, if you count Rex's benching as One and his injury as another. Although they say it will be an open competiton I think the coaches are hoping Rex will take the job, that means he will get a little extra leeway in terms of mistakes, poor numbers ect... in pre-seaon games but If Orton can plainly outperform Rex in his games then Orton will open the season as the starter... Based on his history, that isn't really a bad thing. In his starts over the last (3) seasons Orton has a very good record/winning percentage and in the end it's not the "flash" but the "W"'s we all want to see. I'll take less mistakes and a little less sexyness as long as we are winning. On that note the buzz around camp is that Orton must have taken the competition decleration to heart because he has come into this camp in the best shape of his career, has looked sharp in drills and in running the first team offense in OTA's.
(B) Benson is gone and Forte is in.... To me thats a "winner winner chicken dinner" rihgt there. Facts are that Forte has more speed, better hands and a quicker first step then Benson ever had (if he had it at all that is) and the kid can block so he has the potential be better then the perrenial BUST himself in every phase of the game at RB.
(C) Booker is actualluy an upgrade over Moose and Berrian's departure may hurt a little but the potential of a WR group featuring a "head on stright" Brandon Lloyd and an ever improving an deadly Devin Hester and hopefully a healthy for once in his career Mark Bradley should help replace what we lost in Berrian's deep threat ability. I also believe that the rookie Earl Bennett will have an impressive year and I also expect Olson to put up bigger numbers then his rookie year.
(D) The Defense is fully recovered from that terrible rash of injury we were plauged with last season. Odds are good that lightning won't strike this unit twice so with the exception of a few minor injuries here and there and the probably loss of the league normal starter or two at times during the season the Bears Defense should regain it's old form by just staying more healthy..... The added bonus from that miserable 2007 season is that all those young kids that played have gained valuable experience they can now can take with them to thier normal back up roles so our depth should be stronger in key areas this season as opposed to last season.
Urlacher will be fine, he will prove to all those natsyers that his neck and Back issue are healed and are nothing t | |
