This team looks great.  It is so nice that USA Basketball finally decided to create a "team" and not just a bunch of all-stars.  After watching them in the Tournament of the Americas I think this is the year the US finally returns the gold to where it belongs!

Hopefully so.  The problem lies in the lack of pure shooters...we have so many athletic slashers, but that does not translate well in international play.

We also need big men who can shoot the 15 foot jumper and defend.

This is a good team, but there are certainly holes...

ditto we are going to have to be able to hit the big three! Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony on the court at the same time worries be, I liked it when LeBron James, Anthony were sharing the ball together, I do not believe with all three on the court the ball is going to be passed all that much. Glad that DeWayne Wade is back this roster will need him!

yeah we'll see what happens. The international play doesnt really bring out the best in our players these days, hopefully these guys will be focused and ready to bring home the gold. we seem to be alittle guard heavy but I guess in international play thats what it is about.   GO USA!!

sad to say, so to speak, yet i must regretfully disagree.  international ball requires top notch skill shooting ability game after game, every time a team has the ball.  additionally, top notch defensive skills are required, game after game, every time the opponent has the ball.  both of these two skill sets must be encompassed by all, repeat, ALL, of the players on the court at any given time.

argentina (spell check time?) seems to have the coaching and players required to succeed on the international court.   this is not american basketball we are playing, and that our team members have   been practicing for the past 4 years.  this is a basketball game with different skill sets required.

if team usa shows up as it did in the recent round robin months ago, a bronze will be a good showning.

It seems to me that the biggest problem with this team is that, for some reason, the head coach doesn't have experience with either NBA players or international ball.  That makes a lot of sense.  Maybe we should start hiring NBA coaches out of high school.

<table width="800" class="mcct_container"> <tbody> <tr class="mcct_header"> <td>  </td> </tr> <tr class="mcct_body" valign="top"> <td> ditto we are going to have to be able to hit the big three!</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> That was the biggest weakness last time around, and I think that's the main reason Michael Redd is on the roster.  Nobody seems to be talking about him very much.  He may not be as versatile as some of the bigger-name stars on the team, but the guy can shoot.
