tydreamer:

I avoided this debate the first go round, but I'll weigh in: The reason you'll find so many O's fans that disagree with you wholeheartedly is because we had the same feeling about Tejada when we first signed him as you do now. "He's hitting awesome, it's not his fault we're losing. It's all our damn starting pitching." That sounds way too familiar. We definitely saw first hand that one player, no matter how well he hits, won't win you games. You've got to have the rest of the parts in place. On the other hand, in the Orioles case, a package of young, solid contributors, however, have proven to provide a pretty good spark and has won games along the way this year.

My opinion? The Astros as an organization have the same approach the Orioles had 3-4 years ago. Buy whatever looks good, try to patch the holes and create a winning team, as opposed to starting young and building towards a winning franchise. You might not regret the Tejada trade at all, but assuming your ultimate goal would be to make the playoffs/win a world series, has the trade helped Houston make any progress toward that goal? Not at all. The Astros finished with a .451 winning percentage in 2007. Add Tejada, and the team is sitting at a .452 winning percentage after last nights game. You might not blame Tejada, but it took 3 starting pitchers to acquire Tejada. Albers and Sarfate definitely could have contributed on that Astros team this year.

I'm not trying to restart the whole argument, but I think you need to see where we're coming from, as we've all seen this before from Tejada. I'll be down in Houston in about a week, and I'll get to catch a game at Minute Maid for the first time, so it'll be interesting seeing Miguel in person wearing a different uniform and playing a home game somewhere outside of Baltimore.

And Willie Randolph took his team to the playoffs, oh thats right, he fell flat on his face. Randolph is not a good manager. Trembley isn't the smartest, but he teachs the fundamentals and the little things you have to do.

oh yeah and trembley would have took them to the series right? not!

and all im saying is you guys werent on his D!ck last year, when we were 10 games under 500 by now, but now cuz we made a couple trades (which he had nothing to do with) and our Bullpen is one of the best in the league (which he has nothing to do with) he is the best?

just like Torre, when he was in NY he was winning, now that he is in LA he is 4 games under 500 b/c he doesnt have the players he had in NY

honeslty i dont think it has anything to do with Trembley, i think it was all Tejeda....

we all knew we could have been as good as we are now 2 years ago, but now we have younger and more energized guys in the club house and its rubbing off on everyone, everytime Tejeda was up he either struck out or hit into a DP and i hate to say that cuz i loved Tejeda, but i loved when he was traded cuz i think it was his fault we sucked

and getting bonds and getting rid of Millar and payton would help our team because with that short porch in left he would hit more HRs than both of them combined, and like i said b4 will bring more fans to the stands

Birdsfan,

and no i dont want them to fall flat on their face b/c you guys like trembley, i want them to fall flat on their face b/c no materr what i say you always disagree with me, no matter what i say. you can say something one week and two weeks later i say the same thing and you disagree, your a hypocrit, and you guys always think you know everything.

because who ever thinks having Jay Payton is heklping our team more than Having bonds instead is stupid b/c payton has only 4 HRs and 23 RBIs....Bonds would be in double digits by now

and even if bonds didnt start every game like Payton he would still have more HRs

and dont get me wrong i hated bonds and i was one of the ppl who thinks he took roids, but he hasnt been caught and your innocent untill prooven guilty and that hasnt happened yet.

and i know you guys arent worried about getting players who take steroids on our team cuz we had tons of players on our team who had taken steroids in the past few years

Tejeda, Gibbons, Grimsley, Roberts, Sosa, Palmeiro just to name a few

and im sure i made my fav team the Orioles just to came on this board and mess with yall...ok?

and i would love for them to win the world series or even get to the playoffs but i know that isnt going to happen, i just want to proove to some of you inconsiderate hard headed, know it all smart asses that your not always right

Jaked -

I tried the humor route, but apparently that was a bad idea.

First off, it'd be foolish to say that Payton was better than Bonds.  I'd never argue with you there.  It's about the direction our team is going in, and Bonds is not the kind of guy - steroids or not - that we need to sign right now.  Or maybe ever.  I can say that it's cool for a 4th outfielder to have a nice hit without slamming him, you know?

Look - I honestly have no problem with you.  You have the nads to post with passion, and you take unpopular stances, which shows some guts.  But you seem to be seriously putting other posters - and more importantly, the team - down, way down, on a consisitent basis.  That's just not cool, and it's upsetting people.  You can say how you feel without being so negative all the time.  Just think about it.

None of us here are ever always right or wrong.  Just chill out and have fun with our season, win or lose.

jaked..................I'm actually getting tired of arguing with you, and will probably be my last post to you.......................BUT, if you were on this board last year, you would have found that everybody LOVED Trem.................even after that 30 - 3 loss.  and we dont go back on what we say every week..............read the post more clearly.  Just be patient dude.  This team and organization was ran into the ground.  Its gonna take a few years to build a very tough base and turn the winning times around.

Me putting other (posters) down? ha ha HA!

dont try to flip this on me, not once have i ever put a poster down unless they did it to me first...

all i did was post a idea...."should we sing bonds?"

what kind of response do it get?  eh your stupid...your a idiot this that and the third

then i post what do you guys think of randolph should we get him next offeseason?

what responses do i get...the same your a isiot your dumb blah blah blah...

and Bonds is not the kind of guy - steroids or not - that we need to sign right now.

what makes him different from Payton or Millar?

Millar plays DH, hmmm isnt that where Bonds would play? yes...wouldnt bonds have better power numbers? most likely

whats payton play? bench and mixes in a little LF and PH, which bonds would do sometimes....wouldnt he have better numbers than payton? yes

so why not? cuz hes old? hes not to much older than millar and payton and if he is he still plays better and we arent goping to be keeping payton or millar for more than another 2 years anyway.

this tema knows they have a shot to do somthing this year and they arent going to setlte for 500 ball at the end of the season...yeah we might think 500 is great to end the seaosn for a change and it would be, but its not fun to settle for that when you have a chance to gor into the playoffs and thats what they want to do, and Bonds would be a hell of a step up from Patyon, i like payton but i like the team more and thats why i want them to get rid of patyon and bring in bonds to make the team better...

and whoever thinks im bringing the team down b/c im making ideas for them to imrpove....well i dont even know why someone would think that...

if you guys dont like my ideas, so be it, you dont have to bash me about it...you guys are acting like i said we should move the team to utah b/c i mentioned a singing of a player and a coach.....but you dont have to call me names...

and im not going to stop posting my ideas, cuz like you said i have guts and i could careless if you guys think they are good or not, b/c i dont need anyone to like them or not, i just think its fun talking about Orioles baseball with fans from all around the world, but with the way some of you guys act, its starting not to be fun anymore
