As for how your emails go & reading them.  Most of the time I have one or two simple questions for you to answer & for better or worse, you don't put the answers up front.  They are usually buried & yes I do the same thing except I try & answer at the front/top of the emails & then gone on & on & on.

Look, what I am saying is lets concentrate on leveling the playing field.  I love America and I love the American dream and I dont want our kids to have the same oppurtunities we have.  I want them to have better ones.  We all have benefited from capitalism in this country and we've achieved probably the best political system the world has ever known.  But that doesn't mean we can stop now.  We must keep fighting for what we have.  We must have our eye on bigger and better things.  Not everyone in this country can achieve wealth but no one should starve and no one should live in extreme poverty.  You talk about God like you have some ascendancy over what it means to worship and to be a Christian,  Yet you refuse to acknowledge that what is happening to people in this country is morally wrong.  And honestly what's the difference if a CEO has 5 Bentley's or 2?  Don't just accept the status quo Todd.  This country, Our Country, can do better.

Why do we need to level anything.  99 times out of 100, that CEO has busted his butt to get to where he is.  I wish I had his job and salary.  I am about to leave my job and go back to school so I can get a better job.  The beauty of this country is that if a blue collar worker is not satisfied with his salary, he can go back to school or go to night school.  Can't afford school, he can take out a student loan.  Once he gets that degree, he can apply for the supervisor position.  The opportunities are there if people want to grab them.

My other point about the CEO is that I acknowledge that he doesn't work any harder than the low man on the totem pole.  However, he has a lot more responsibility than that other man, and that is why he is compensated.  If a guy is the CEO of a 1,000 person billion dollar company, he should be compensated more than the guy who paints the widgets that the company makes.  his decisions ultimately effect whether the other guy will have a company to work for next week.  In now way should they be paid the same, or even similar.

In 1982 CEO's made 42 times what the average worker made.  Now it's 400 times.  Is this trend disturbing to you?

Just to be clear I'm not saying that everyone should make the same salary.  That isn't what I meant by leveling the playing field.

No thoughts on poverty?  Should they work harder?

Good luck.

No thoughts on poverty?  Should they work harder?

If they want more...ABSOLUTELY!!!

Do you know how many scholarships, grants, and aid there are for need based students?  My point is the opportunity is there.  People need to be willing to take it.  If someone is not willing to take the extra step to improve their standard of living, then why should someone take that step for them?  There are exceptions to every rule, of course, but for the most part, I don't believe someone has a valid complaint about what others make or should expect them to pay a higher percentage, when they are not trying to improve themselves.

I personally think that if we are going to "level the playing field" then we need to change the tax system to make it fair.  Either have a flat tax and everyone pays the same percentage of their salaries, or do away with income tax and have all taxes based on spending.  The weathier you are, the more you spend, the more tax you pay.
