IMHO, all seven players that you listed were honored by the Colts and deservedly so. whether they be in Baltimore or Indianpolis it's the same franchise. I believe that they should stay retired.
I say we free up the numbers, causing additional hatred towards Indianapolis by the people of Baltimore. We can simply say, "we forgot to pack them in the Mayflower truck."
As a long time Colts (the franchise) fan, I'd say that the must keep them retired. Indianapolis was allowed to keep the name of the storied franchise and with that comes the responsibility to maintain and celebrate the whole history of that same franchise.
Frankly, I was a little put out that the Colts (in Baltimore) didn't retire John Mackey's #88. He was one of the greatest TEs ever to play the game. Now it will no doubt be retired in the name of Marvin Harrison. Don't get me wrong, if there was ever a player who deserved to be so honored, it will be Harrison, but I just wish that they had gotten to honor Mackey in the same way.
ya, definately will have 18 and 88 added to that list within 5 years of peyton and marvin retiring....probably 93 and 21 too, assuming freeney and sanders finish their careers with the Colts.
Griff, ya' gotta be kidding!! A Colt is always and forever a Colt, son!! Hell, I say give Edge, Harper, and rest of the boys that left rings as well; just make theirs 10k gold with a half a horseshoe!!
In case you folks have forgotten, its less than a month before camp begins!!!
