David DeJesus is the real deal, here to stay, and you Dejesus bashers can stop posting about: how we need to trade him, he's not an offensive threat, has no speed and is only an "adequate" outfielder.

Even though he had a monster game today with a grand slam and 5 RBI, that's not the reason for this post.  I'm just reiterating what I said at the beginning of the year that this guy is a solid major leaguer and is a solid hitter and a solid fielder.  Yes, we all know that he doesn't steal a lot of bases and he doesn't have blazing speed and can't make it through a whole year without getting hurt.   But the thing I l love about this guy is that he plays HARD, he smiles even when he makes a mistake, and he is constantly improving.

David signed with the Royals under what he could have received from another club, he is a guy that gives everything he has day in and day out, and at  age 27 still has a solid upside.  This is the year (27-28) when most hitters start to get more power and come into their own as an offensive threat.  I think we are starting to see a little of that with Dejesus.  He already has 7 home runs this year, and they were not fluke dongers.  He is DRIVING the ball with authority and he has a solid level swing that usually leads to more doubles than home runs.  That's fine with me.  He is probably never going to "mash" but he seems always to hit around .300 and if he starts to add 15-20 HR's with his 30+ doubles and 5-7 triples, there's no reason why he doesn't fit in the "plan" and can't be a lifelong Royal!

Thoughts? :)

I totally agree........  David DeJesus is day in and day out a consistant major league outfielder.  One of a few consistant players on our team.  It would be great to see him sign with the Royals long term.  With that said I still don't think management knows where to bat this guy.....  they need to find a positon and stick with it.  Then again this is the Royals and well all know what management does.........  anyway great series this weekend.   We donimate the National league.....  I bet management is regretting not moving to the NL a few years ago..........

DeJesus is in a groove now.  He's attacking the baseball now, he's getting some real good swings in now.  Right now, he's our most dangerous hitter.   IMO he should be either a leadoff hitter or number 2 hitter.  Until Gathright shows a better OBP, Dejesus should remain the leadoff hitter.

Kanzass - I think Dejesus still has 3 years left on a 5 year deal he signed a couple of years ago.....I may be wrong....Can anyone confirm that for me?

Good post, and I agree.  DeJesus is one of the Royals most consistent hitters.  I have never said "lets trade DeJesus" or "DeJesus is not even that good of a player."  Right now, we need consistency.

I went to Friday's game and to today's game.  Teahen really didn't inpress me in either.  He always missed out on a couple of plays in the outfield today.  The ball that was hit at the warning track had hit Teahen's glove, but he wasn't able to catch it.  The ones that he didn't catch were hard catches to make, but I think he should have had the one on the warning track.

Right when DeJesus hit that grand slam, I stood up and started cheering.  Had a not-so-happy Diamondbacks fan throw a peanut at me lol.  I have yet to find one fan of another team actually say something other then "what place are the Royals in?" in an arguement with a Royals fan.  At least we know who the real fans are.  If you still support the Royals right now, then you are definitely a true fan in my book.

For the most part, the Diamondbacks fans were pretty mature.  Chase Field is really nice too.  Have to find a good parking place, but other than that, both times I went I had a really good time.

Go Royals!

I got to agree with you about Royals outfielder David DeJesus. He is the real deal. I've never bashed him. He's not a super stud but he is mighty steady. A good ball player. I actually like him as a lead off hitter. No he's not a base stealer but he has a good on base percentage. For the Royals anyway. He must avoid injuries. Knock on wood. He was interviewed today on tv and said he's trying to take pitches and is seeing the ball well. I also thought it was nice when asked for a message for his Dad for Father's Day, he said "Happy Father's Day Dad. I love you." A good guy. I like him always smiling and being upbeat. Mark Teahan is a good ball player too. Remember when he played a great third base? I really think moving him all over has hurt his hitting production. And Alex Gordon played an amount of first base at Nebraska. Jose Guillen is proving to be a real deal too. Where would the Royals be without his hitting? And how about Mike Aviles? Got to root for that guy too. The Royals put a hurt on the Arizona Diamondbacks the last two games. And they're a good team. The Royals sure play well against the National League. Royals starting pitching has been good the last week. I was kinda surprised that Trey Hillman didn't get Joakim Soria in for the ninth inning. I know it wasn't a save situation but its an off day tomorrow and he needed the work in my opinion. I hope he's not hurting. Good post Mbonsignore1. Thanks. Those are my thoughts. Let's go Royals!
