I don't understand how the Lakers were "tough" tonight. The Celtics were without 3 of their starters for the majority of the game. Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins not to mention the fact that P.J. Brown was in foul trouble. With that said I think any NBA team could have gotten the touches they did down low. I mean every time Pau Gasol or Lamar Odom had the ball there was "soft" defense being played in fear of picking up another phantom foul so how exactly did those guys come up as tough? The Lakers did what they SHOULD have done which is win against a Celtics team that was depleted and not getting many calls for.

Phantom fouls???  Come on you beantown homer - while it wasn't a great game at least give credit where credit is due.  What phantom calls?  The Lakers were the most aggressive and thus got most of the calls (except for Pierce who shot like 70 ft's last night!)

And, the Celtics aren't depleted by any means.  Yes, Perkins was out.  The Lakers have played without their starting center (Bynum) for months.  And Perkins couldn't carry Bynum's jock.

Now, with that being said I do believe the Celtics will win the series and raise another banner but give the Lakers credit for winning an elimination game and forcing the series back to Boston.

Funny tihng is Garnett and Pierce hit their 5th fouls half way through the 4th quarter, while it was clear something was bothering Allen. Pierce got called for some pretty ridiculous fouls tonight too. And Odom stumbling over himself isn't a foul, more like a travel. Another poorly called game.

the game was called fine yes all the games you an find arguments about the refs but fact is the Lakers came out desperate an it worked. yes the celts are banged up Ray Allen has family issues, Rondo's ankle is sore, pierces knee is sore, and perkins who shuts down gasol is out.

Kg played soft and got called for fouls. now he is rested because he only played 33 minutes so  expect him to have a big game, i also expect to see perk at least alittle if he can raise his arms and big baby will get some minutes to beat up gasol. We were a team alittle depleted in the wrong spots so it allowed the lakers to be more aggresive, you know if perk is playing that the lakers go to the hole alot less one because there is a second shot blocker but also because KG doesnt have as many fouls an thenh he can be productive on the ofensive end.

Yes bynum is better than perk but people were saying that the lakers were to big for the celts and that was clearly not the case. so you cant say that because people saod the lakers were going to win without bynum so whatever.

The Celtics need to get their offense more organized, spread the floor give it to kg and let him either score or pass for an OPEN three. and the defense need to tightn up a liittle. I see celtics closing out at home game 6. Im still not impressed by the lakers they barely won a game that they had the advantage from the begining in.... banged up celtics team, way more motivation this should have been a 10-12 point win for the lakers but it wasnt.

celts in six

The game was called just fine.  I wouldn't say the Lakers on a whole were more physical against the Celtics, but Pau Gasol certainly was.  I think it had something to do with 6'11" 285 pound starting center Kendrick Perkins not being able to play.  He just pounds Gasol.  So, Kevin Garnett had to kick it up a notch on defense, and got into foul trouble because of it.  Let me ask you this, without the Lakers starting center, Pau Gasol, how would the Lakers have done?  Kobe Bryant would have had to score 81 points to win.  Good, gutsy win by the Lakers, but that is the end of that.  The Celtic bench, James Posey, Eddie House, Leon Powe, P.J. Brown, they will play better at home, and I think the Lakers will wilt under the pressure of playing in Boston.  Paul Pierce has proven to be unguardable, and if Ray Allen shoots better, Boston by 13 in game 6 at the Garden.  The player who plays better at home by far, is Rajon Rondo, he is young, and the road isn't for the young.  He kills at home.  Let's not forget how Lamar Odom has played in Boston, and if you think he is going to change, forget it.  Game six, the Celtics get to share their trophy with their fans.
