We are 3 games back of the Dodgers going into tomorrow night.
The pitching matchups are intriguing and I think we are in for a surprise or two. Lets have a look. This is tentative and the team could change it.
Game 1: Maddux Vs. Kershaw.
Maddux will be going on 1 extra day rest. Over his last 6 starts Greg is only 1-1 suffering from run support. He has given up only 10 earned runs in that time and only got the win a month ago throwing 6 shutout innings vs the ROX. He was awesome last time time out going 7 and only giving up 1 run against the Cubs. The start of our streak.
Game 2: Wolf Vs. Billingsley
Wolf will be going on normal rest taking Josh Banks normal turn. Randy has posted a quality start the last 5 times out. He was awesome last time outdueling Santana going 7 and giving up 1 run.
Game 3: Peavy Vs. Kuroda
The return of Jake has me a little worried.
Jake will be hyped to get back and as always emotional on the bump. Kuroda looked good in beating us in the teams first series and is coming off a complete game SO against the Cubs.
I think a big factor in this series is who we have catching for each pitcher. Personally I feel that Carlin is terrific when working with Maddux. In Wolf's last appearance (which was amazing) he used Barrett which is fine. Peavy troubles me as well and I think he will be best fit with Carlin.
Who do you all think will get the 5th starter spot? Baek or Ledezma? I really like Ledezma's stuff, watching him throw is awesome, but he has control problems. What do you all think?
Ledezma may be a big league pitcher some day (he definitely has the stuff), but he is not ready to be a starter in MLB club yet. Hopefully, he'll clear waiver and go to Portland where he can work on his mechanics and command.
But seriously, Joe Thatcher... haven't we already done this twice this year?? I will try to reserve judgement until I see him actually pitch again, but I'm more than a little skeptical.
