I'm a Met fan and don't usually post on the Giants MB but I just wanted to comment on the fan base. Pedro Martinez is a really good person who has worked very hard to come back from a variety of injuries and in his 1st start back he pitches a nice game against your team but do you guys boo him....no, you guys did the opposite and gave him a standing ovation as he walked off the mound. Wow, I was so impressed by the respect you gave to a future HOF, who just pitched well against you. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure if this had been the other way around that we would have been as gracious, maybe but not definately.

SF Fans are 1st class all the way. I hope your franchise turns it around and you contend for the NL West title soon. You have a couple of really good starters to build around and this kid Fred Lewis has such a sweet swing. During the telecast on SNY Keith Hernandez was raving about Lewis and how much potential he has. I agree with him and hope he's right!    Of course I don't want him to do well this afternoon, he can start lighting it up on Thursday! LOL

It is always nice to have a fan of another team applaude our graciousness. Thanks for the kind words!

Pedro Martinez is a great pitcher and mind you he was once LA Blue, but that's long past him, his legacy remains with the Bosox, such a great team their still winning without him.
However that takes nothing away from Martinez as well as the Mets, who are just as good as any other NL East Division Team, you've got a real battle on your hands in that division,
and for that matter this afternoon, cause likewise, I don't want you to win here, but thanks for the compliment to our fans

Nice post.  Thanks for the compliments.

I'll return the favor.  I've lived in a few different areas of the country and now I live in an area where I get sports radio stations from both New York and Philadelphia and I can say without a doubt that New York fans are the most knowledgable and passionate sports fans that I've seen.  Philly fans are a joke.  They have such a knee-jerk reaction to every single game, but New York fans (Mets AND Yankees) are much smarter and more analytical.

Being a Bonds fan and seeing majority of his game in away stadium while in college in L.A. and in the NW seeing the disrespect  they show him was STUPID.  Never mind the steriod issue they could not see past the media hype and appreciate his talent.  Pedro has had his issues as well but what he is a pitcher and his performace over the years you have to appreciate it.

Pedro is a great player, once in a lifetime talent. a player like that deserves cheers. i was really dissappointed that people never looked past Bonds' rumors, when in fact, he was a great player. the New York Mets are a team with great history and a great future. you made me fan...hopefully we will see you in the NLCS one day

Thanks - I don't think Giants fans try to be better fans (than those of other teams), it's just simply our nature. Of course, we've never wanted to become Dodger fans ( show up in the 3rd, leave after the 7th)! Ok, we are better than LA fans in a sense because so many of us both can and DO ditch our car (if we have one) and take the bus or streetcar to the ballpark.

Giants fans will show up win or lose WITH PRIDE. We have more diehards and fewer lame pathetic shallow bandwagon jumpers.

Don't forget - the Giants are the 3rd oldest franchise in the big leagues (1885 or 1886 in New York).

HUM BABY!
