Nice showing last night by one of my favorite Padres. Scott Hairston catch in center last night and his bat production last night justifyes my feelings that he's the new "Charlie Hustle".

I know he strikes out too much, but I think if he was an every-day player we would see those drop off.

GO PADRES

Wow, thats all I have to say. After all the crap I gave him all season so far, he deserves credit where credit is due. What a catch, also he got his bat back. The last two games he has gotten some key hits. I'd like to see the power he showed last year to be back but that will come I'm sure.

Lets go Padres!

You called it Boltnut!  You had his back when people like me were after his head. Born again hard! I dont know what to say about that catch, but i will say this.....

I liken this to when the Bolts beat Tenny in the play-offs. One shinning moment to stay in the game, and work to change the remainder of the season. Great job Hariston, and lets get'em tonight!

Go Padres!!!

I've hard on Hairston this year, but he's turned it around here of late.  Hairston, Gerut, and Giles are looking like a respectable outfield.

While we're handing out the credit, I made a comment about E Gonzalez and his defense yeterday, but he made a couple nice plays especially the one late in the game.

The normal top 5 in our lineup look like this:
Gerut - .260
Gonzalez - .282
Giles - .297
Gonzalez - .294
Kouzmanoff -.270

A casual fan saw that on paper and they'd think it was a pretty decent lineup.

I am not a fan of huber at all. He might be ok off the bench every so often, but I would like to give gerut and hairston the starting jobs for good and have PMac spell them every so often. And when gerut needs the day off go hairston in center etc. We need to start giving those guys regular at bats to really see some production. Its hard to get it going when buddy keeps giving them a start, then a day off, and then a start and then 2 days off.

I think Scott Hairston has the best defensive skills of them all. He's shown the hustle all season too. I'd play him in center every day. I think his batting would improve. I'm not impressed with Justin Huber either for anything but spot starts. Jody Gerut and Paul McAnulty could split time in left. They seem to be about equal in talent.

Switch things around depending on lefty vs righty pitching against my Padres...

GO GET EM FRIARS
