It's not just the wheelchair.  It's the way he rolled around on the court, it's the way he had to have his teammates carry him off the court.  The bottom line is that Paul Pierce is soft.  If it had been any other player in the NBA I would still be saying the same thing.  In comparison, a NHL player essentially had his throat slit by a skate.  He didn't flop around and scream like a little girl.  He calmly left the ice UNDER HIS OWN POWER and

Sorry about the double post, my computer freaked out.  but anyways that dude in the NHL was able to leave the ice under his own power and he had a LIFE THREATENING injury.

Let me start off by saying that I am a Lakers fan, so you can take the rest of what I write for what it's worth.  Sure, it might look fishy to those looking for conspiracies and conartists, but I don't think Paul Pierce or any NBA player would really fake an injury to get taken out of the NBA finals.  Why would you jeopardize everything your team has worked for all season long?  Do you really think Pierce would pretend to be injured and roll around on the floor just to make a dramatic entrance?  Or as you explain it, just milk for everything to be compared to Willis Reed?  I grant you, Pierce probably overreacted.  However, when you sprain anything, especially a knee, it is painful.  At the instant you do it, you can't put any weight on it.  That doesn't mean you can't eventually move on it.  Think about any time you have sprained an ankle.  You are in a lot of pain at the beginning, but can often walk and even run on it after five ten minutes.  What is amazing to me is that nobody questioned Michael Jordan for having the flu.  Instead, they praised him for his drive and determination when he performed.  We have to give Pierce his due for just trying to be out there.  But he not only showed up, he did well.  It has always been his job to fire up the Celtics.  He did that in game one.  Now, I don't know what he has left.  I know with sprains (or worse) that your adrenaline can get you through one game and overcome the injury.  However, one, two, or three days later a sprain can really swell up and be much more difficult to deal with.  I was thinking that the Celtics would come out strong in game one, get overconfident, and still be beatable in game two.  I still think that.  Throw in to the mix that Paul Pierce may not be very mobile, it could definitely happen.  Now, if Pierce is practicing with no problems as early as tomorrow, then we can throw up a flag and talk about him faking.  Until that time, let's just give him points for tenacity.

I am very happy Pierce came back as I don't want any player on either team to get hurt.

But, Pierce did his best soccer player impersonation with that injury.  Lying on the ground crying like you are on your death bed but yet 2 minutes later you are back in the game perfectly healthy.

Apparently Pierce also faked nearly getting stabbed to death and returning before anyone thought it possible.

The clear truth here is that Paul Pierce is a superhero and has regenerative powers similar to that of Wolverine and that hot cheerleader chick from Heroes
