Dont be afraid to jump on the Jim Edmond train. I have been on since day 1!!! Its a fun ride. I am glad to see alot of Cub fans on other threads recognize the genious in Hendry signing him. Especially, for the pro-rated minimum.
Props given. I never was against the p/u of Jim Edmonds but, like most, I wondered if he had anything left in the tank. Ya know, we are playing him to his strength. Which is facing right handed pitching. I think he'll hit north of .280 and play stellar D. All aboard! Choo...chooooooo!!
I have to say (grew up hating Mascara-Man) that this past week has been amazing in regards to Jim. I personally feel his $300,000 ish contract was worth it just for the last 4-5 games. W/out his big bat on thursday (i think, the 8-run comeback win) we probably would not have won that game. Plus his still can fetch pretty well. I give him his props.
yes i too give him props for his recent success. he has been a proessional all of his career and there was no reason that he shouldnt find his stroke this year as well. hopefully now that he has heated up he can play more like Jim Edmonds for the duration of the season.
I think anytime you can get a guy with the resume that Jim Edmonds has for practically nothing (in baseball money) you have to do it. I think Jim Hendry did a nice job picking up 2 quality CF's for very little money. I love the way he and Reed Johnson go about playing CF, and like someone pointed out in another post, the way Edmonds busts his tail out there everyday makes him a great fit for this Cubs team. I'm looking forward to when the train heads south to see the Cardinals. Go Cubs!
