With the news that Peter Angelos has finally agreed to change the Home Team Orioles to wear the word "Baltimore" on its Road Uniforms it made me think of Orioles past, when we as fans last saw that word on Orioles uniforms if we saw a game on TV or were lucky enough to see a game on the road.  Yeah, way back when the chances of seeing hi-lites of a game played, say Oakland, were viewed on TV.

So...... How about giving us your Top 15?  I know, I know, a  very tough question.  But give it a Go, if you can.      Here's mine...

 1.  Brooks Robinson

 2.  Frank Robinson

 3.  Eddie Murray

 4.  Boog Powell

 5.  Cal Ripken

 6.   John Lowenstein

 7.  Dennis Martinez

 8.  Mark Belanger

 9.  Luis Aparicio

10.  Rick Dempsey

11.  Jim Palmer

12.  Mike Cuellar

13.  Curt Blefary

14.  Sam Bowens

15. Milt Pappas

I know, I know...this is the toughest test I've ever taken.  Like me, I had to exclude Hoyt Wilhelm and Mike Boddicker and the like.  How on earth you say?  Yeah, I know.   Maybe I should've asked the Top 100?

I'm not asking WHY or how.  We each have our own crazy or sane reasons, because if we each explained our reasoning, this could turn out to be some kind of encyclopedia of sorts.  Eh?  And don't forget to think about Paul Blair or Elrod Hendricks and B.J. Surhoff!  This is really a tough question, I say!

Hey byrd, nice idea.  I already posted my 'encyclopedia' entry on the road jersey thread, so I'll keep it simple here.  Just keep in mind that I'm a "post pennant" fan, so my list is based on more recent guys, along with all the stories I've heard and hi-lites I've seen.

1)  Cal Ripken Jr.

2)  Eddie Murray

3)  Jim Palmer

4)  Frank Robinson

5)  Brooks Robinson

6)  Mike Flanagan

7)  Brady Anderson

8)  Chris Hoiles

9)  Mike Mussina (it kills me to say)

10)  Joe Orsulak

11)  Mike Deveraux

12)  Gregg Olson

13)  Brian Roberts

14)  BJ Surhoff

15)  Melvin Mora (sucker pick)

I have to throw in a couple I didn't see play just because I've heard so much about them and know what they did for the Orioles, but at the same time I'm young so many deserving icons are gonna miss my list...

  1. Cal Ripken, Jr.
  2. Brooks Robinson
  3. Jim Palmer (For the history and the insights during broadcasts)
  4. Boog Powell (he makes it this high because of BBQ)
  5. Eddie Murray
  6. BJ Surhoff
  7. Chris Hoiles
  8. Frank Robinson (only so low because I misssed his career)
  9. Randy Myers (maybe a weird pick, but his saves were the best thing I remember from the last time the O's were successful)
  10. Rick Dempsey ( I like goofiness)
  11. Eric Davis (I was really moved by his fight w/cancer)
  12. Brian Roberts
  13. BJ Ryan
  14. Nick Markakis
  15. Miguel Tejada (there were reasons not to like him, but I did anyway)

That was a tough list, but I tried to go with a combination of who I liked to watch and who was truly great fr the team.

Fifty-four years of Orioles baseball (1954) and its come down to just 15, huh? This is really tough. I always liked some of the fringe players. So here we go (in no particular order):

 3. Boog Powell

 4. Jim Palmer

 5. Dave McNally

 6. Mike Cuellar

 7. Cal Ripken, Jr.

 8. Eddie Murray

 9. Harold Baines

10. Lee May

11. Gary Roenicke

12. B.J. Surhoff

13. Chris Hoiles

14. Mickey Tettleton

15. Gregg Olsen
