I respect Taylor immensely as a human being and a dominant football player.  However, I can't blame anyone for holding this "Dancing with the Stars" thing against him.  There are a lot of really acceptable reasons for missing workouts and team activities, but appearing on a freaking lame reality television show certainly is not one of them.  I am sure that he would like to win more games, but explain to me how that is going to happen while working on your mambo and your box step.  If I were the GM, the head coach, or one of his teammates then I would be seriously disappointed as well.  If a guy really wants to win, then show up and put in the extra work and help the young and inexperienced players get better.  Either that, or just give up the charade and move to the other Hollywood full time.  But don't try to pretend like you can play both sides of that fence, because I don't think many people are going to buy it.  I think this is an example of a good guy making a really bad decision.

If the Dolphins had such an issue with him appearing on 'Dancing with the Stars", then they should have expressed it, instead of sitting back and doing what they've done.  This man has been the face of the Dolphins franchise since the departure of Dan Marino and has been one of the few people in this league that could have easily gone elsewhere when things started to get tough, but he decided to stick it out.  The 1-15 season of last year has certainly not been an isolated incident.  In 2004, the they had a 4-12 campaign and haven't been in the playoffs since the 2001 season.  Parcells and Co. aren't exactly off the hook here.  He's known for making his opinion known, so why doesn't he?  He's had no problem opening his mouth in the past.

What people so often forget is that players have lives after football.  Jason Taylor want's to be involved in hollywood after his football days are over.  He was presented with the chance to appear on a television show which helped to increase his visibility nationwide.  I wonder if he was taking college classes instead of attending workouts if he would be dealing with this.  It's really the same thing in that both are steps that he could be taking to advance his future plans.

Don't forget that these OTAs are voluntary, not mandatory. If a guy wants to do his own thing on his own time then so be it. It's not like Taylor doesn't know the defence, he's been in it for 11 years. If he shows up out of shape, then deal with it. Otherwise let the man be. I think he's pretty much proven himself. A question, in previous years, was he present for the OTAs?

the show began in march, after the playoffs ended and wayy after the Dolphins season ended. the show ended a few weeks ago, long before mandatory minicamps began, and just when OTAs were beginning. its the freaking offseason let him do what he wants.

I just must not get it. OTA's are voluntary and he was definitely working to stay in shape. A LOT of agility work goes into the routines and his stamina and cardiovascular fitness were pushed to the limits and I'm sure his bodyfat percenatge must have dropped. With all the lifts, his lean muscle mass shouldn't have suffered that much and at no point did the team forbid him from participating in the TV show, so what's the problem?
