I watched the fight and I don't claim to be a MMA expert, but I have to comment:

Kimbo while self admitting he has a lot more to learn and is obviously a one dimensional fighter did a good job. He was able to get himself off the mat the first time he was takin down and as for the the baby blows he took to the head while he was on his back. It in no way was hurting him (much like light body blows a Floyd Mayweather might throw) and his opponent was assed out at that time and had no energy to throw anything harder then what you saw.

I thought both fighters conditioning was SH&^ and they were gassed way too early.

As far as the fight being stopped too early. It was clear after Kimbo busted that dudes ear open he was out of it. He went to hit the ref not out of anger for the fight being called rather because he didn't know where he was and who was infront of him.

Think about it, you blow your ears out swimming too deep in a pool it throws your balance and equilibrium off. Now imagine your ear explodes from a right hook to the side of the head. What state do you think that's gunna put your head in?????

That dude had no idea where he was after sustaining that trauma to the side of his head and the fight was rightfully stopped!!!!!

Who knows if Kimbo is the real deal, but he's fun to watch!!!!!

Justaguy-While I definitely agree that Mir and the other guy are the best announcer team in MMA, I'm not sure we couldn't do a bit better. I think every announcer has something about them you either love or hate. Mir calls a fight prematurely "over" at least twice a broadcast. For my money, nothing tops Rogan's "tough balls" rant during the Couture-Silvia match. But yes, Goldie is a complete d-bag, though certainly no worse than Mauro Ranallo.

For those who still are complaining about the Smith stoppage, you don't get to say "I can't see" to a doctor, then argue that you are fine...period. They're doctors, for God's sake! They aren't going to send you back out into the fight without being able to see so you can get hit in the face with four-ounce gloves. I understand the disappointment, it was well into being a great fight, but the doctor really had no choice. And as for being fixed? C'mon.

And finally, for those folks who are still arguing that Slice has any shot of being anything other than a novelty in MMA, you either must have been blacked out, so drunk by the time the fight started that you saw what you wanted to see, or are just exposing yourself as a less-that-knowledgable fan of MMA. And yes, I would be happy to say that to Kimbo's face, arrange the meeting. I'll just fall dumbly into a single-leg and lay on top of him. It worked for Thompson.

Does anyone else notice? everybody complains about everything and nothing? This was all positive-every fight provided action -each fighter did the best they could do-true fight fans know the ART OF WAR! The refs were cautious being that this is the first and largest event cbs & elite xc have done together. But know this they have made history. Buy stock in this, as this was all good. I congratulate and thank them for the free awesome show. true kimbo needs to do cardio big time but he packs a wallop. Obvious he will have trouble with the top 20? This is what peaks our interest. Just saying lets take a positive approach to mma and life. Today is a great day and you and I are Blessed to read and post here today. Peace and enjoy today and everyday asi f it is your last. Dont worry be Happy!

Carano and Young were the only two that looked like they had Mixed Martial Arts skills!

A few notes on the fights last night-

1. Phil Boroni Spent more time grabbing his crotch than fighting.

2. 3 hours of Fluff for appox 36 minutes of fighting. I thought EliteXC meant Elite eXtreme Cagefighting not Elite eXtremely Cheesy.

3. Carano and Young-outstanding display of talent, and training. best fight of the night, but even this one could not escape without a blemish as Carano did not make weight.

4. Smith and Lawler- Good fight- unfortunate end.

5. Thompson and Slice- where to begin on this train wreck... A. Willing to wager that promoters decided not to drain Thompson's Cauliflower ear for promotional effect. Takes about 25 seconds with a sterile syringe. But looks better to have it explode during the fight. B. While it is ultimately up to the ref to stop a fight, no one can argue that the same measure used against Thompson was used for Slice. IF so, this fight would have stopped with about 30 seconds left in the 2nd when Thomson had Slice pinned to the fence and was pounding his face with elbows for a solid minute. Any other arena, any other night that fight would have been called as the fighter was not intelligently defending himself.

6. MMA turns WWE was the wrong way to go, sorry promoters, your input is not needed for true MMA fans. WE are driven by the heart and dedication of the men in the ring, not the strippers and pyro outside of it.

All in all a huge step back for MMA, Thank you very much Gary Shaw.<o:p&
