Well, this is only a second game, but so far - it looks like Penguins simply do not belong in the same building with Red Wings.  This start is far more dominant then what either team did against their opponents in previous round.

Penguins just could not set up for any sort of a scoring opportunity.  They were never comfortable in the zone, with all their speed - they couldn't get a single odd-man rush going, and I did not see a more than 2-3 decent scoring opportunities in the whole game.

Furthermore, both Crosby and Mallkin are nowhere to be found, with Malkin's best charge coming probably in the last scuffle of the game and he ended up on his bottom there too.

Penguins are certainly talented and I wouldn't put it past them to win 4 in a row, especially with the game going to Pittsburg, but they have nothing going for them in terms of momentum.  The amount of penalties they took and the frustration that was evident - they have nothing to build upon.  Also, as a Capitals fan, I know that it is possible to keep superstars bottled up just long enough to where they become irrelevant.  They are certainly being schooled through these first 2 games.

On a more personal note, I liked Penguins in this series because I like their style of play, and always enjoy when my Capitals play them.  However, the cheap, low-life shots Penguins took against Osgood and especially Franzen - that just shows no class or professionalism.  Roberts and Whitney taking deliberate, cheap shots to the guy's face when nobody is looking when it is known he has an injury seems like a game plan and is a shame on the coaching staff, captain of the team, and the players.  If your only game plan is to try and seriously hurt one player - maybe it is time to go back to the drawing board.  No class, and I am rooting for Red Wings from now on.

Cheap shots on Osgood?  People say Sid dives, but everytime anybody was within three feet of Osgood he fell over like he got ran over by a truck.

I also was not a fan of the cheap shots to Franzen, especially Roberts' punch.  I understand that is his game, but to hit a notably injured player in the head is a bit of a stretch.

Still, right now the Pens are simply getting outplayed in every phase of the game, especially in the neutral zone.  Pittsburgh (notably Geno) has made a living off of neutral zone turnovers, and Detroit simply does not make mistakes between the blue lines.  Hopefully the Pens can turn things around back in the 'Burgh.

Ugggllleeeee. The Penguins are a little freaked out right now and Detroit has the motor chugging, can't tell which line ios on the ice at any time which is good for them...

As for RObert...Old Time Hockey....should have seen the brawls he was in in the 89 final against Montreal. WOuld have lasted about 20 minutes longer. Too many Europeans out there....

Pens should be better at home as long as they quit waiting for someone else to play good...

Wings could shut out Pens all 4 games. I hope so.

Hey, gronk24, you may yet earn the title of least classy NHL "fan" out there. Good for you, you can criticize someone's spelling, aren't you happy you graduated the fourth grade and can pick that out? If that is the basis for your argument, then that just proves that you have no argument at all. Besides, if you are going to point out someone's misspelling, perhaps you should punctuate and capitalize correctly, lest you appear more of a moron that you come off as already. Secondly, if memory serves me correctly, as it usually does, the Washington Capitals haven't had an issue with cheap shots and gooning in an incredibly long time. Thirdly, calling someone a goon because of the team they support or don't support, regardless of whom that team is, is just plain ignorant. Lastly, as you so eloquently put, "who gives a s--t" whether or not you care who he or she roots for? Clearly you are a spiteful and ignorant disgrace to everyone who considers themselves a fan of the great sport of hockey. Go crawl back into whatever hole you came from and reserve your personal attacks, profanity, and disgusting displays of sportsmanship for your family or friends, because there is no place for that here.
