Baton Rouge Regional
#1 LSU (43-16-1) vs. #4 Texas Southern (16-32)
#2 Southern Miss. (40-20) vs. #3 New Orleans (42-19)
Watch out for New Orleans as a sleeper in this region.

I suppose it depends how you look at things. Minus LSU taking this 20-game win streak into the Regionals, the SEC doesn't seem to have a real competitor for the title. It has a bunch of good teams, but none on the edge of greatness -- again minus LSU now.

Compare it to the ACC having 3 of the top 4 teams but only 6 in total: Which conference do you rate as better? SEC with 9 or ACC with 6?

Not saying that one is better than the other, but it simply depends which attribute you value more.

The UNC regional looks very easy ( UNC Wilmington, Elon, Mt. St. Mary's) while the Hurricanes have the hardest regional ( Mizzou, Ole Miss, Bethune Cookman) these teams have very good pitching. WTF, I think the selection comittee wants the Hurricanes to lose.

You are right with LSU being the best in the SEC, but you also have Georgia. They are the 8th national seed and they have Gordon Beckham, one of the top players in the nation. They have a respectable 35-21 record in a SEC with "good" teams.

You have to think that the Tar Heels were happy to see the Beavers stay home.

Don't sleep on Elon. They split a home and home with UNCW and beat UNC in Chapel Hill
