If UT were to lose to UTEP, it would make last years Appalachian State win over Michigan look like a slight upset.
Dude, what are you smoking? By the middle of the 3rd quarter UT will be so far ahead, they will have the 3rd stringers on the field.
UTEP, LOL. This defies reality.

MRsooner, I tend to agree with you on this one, to an extent. Being the 2nd best team in the Big 12 probably qualifies UT as a top ten team, or should.
I will be surprised if UT beats OU next year, this OU team looks special. If they don't stumble OU is good enough to win the national championship this coming year. Even so, UT is probably the 2nd best in the Big 12 this year, 2009 looks like the Longhorns year.
You claim UT is over rated every year, not so. Look at the year they beat USC in the national championship, they were rated 2nd or worse all year, and they won out.
If UT played in the BIG 10, PAC 10, BIG EAST, or ACC they would never face A&M, UT, KS, or Kansas. They would dominate any of those conferences, and be in an automatic BCS game every single year.
Over rated, or just the best ( BIG 12 ) conference in the nation?

dpollock thinks UT will lose to ALL of the following in the 2008 Cllege football season: OU, Mizzou, Kansas, Texas Tech, A&M, and Colorado.
I guess dpollock does not follow college football very closely to make this kind of rediculous guess.
I only see one possible loss, at most two, in the games he quotes. What do you expect from a Rainbow Warrior, when it comes to football knowledge?
Stick to Lua's and surfing, something you may actually know about, avoid football discussion, it makes you look foolish.

When did tu become the second best team in the Big12?? As I stated in an earlier post, you guys are not as good as OU, MIZZ and KAN. Those teams are better than you. Tech beats you because they are at home and you always struggle in Lubbock. A&M beats you because for some reason they have your number and CU beats you because they will be greatly improved and the altitude will get you in the 4th quarter. You are a dreamer if you think that tu would dominate the PAC10, BIG10 or ACC.

This kind of leads me back to the point I was trying to make long ago on several other posts. This program has fallen. How much I don't know. There was a time when I would get frustrated with the fact we would finish second in the big 12 south behind Oklahoma most years. As dpollock44 points out, I'm not even sure we even second anymore. Last year, we got beat by OU. When you look at Mizz and KU, I don't think we would have beaten those guys either. At best one. Was that a problem a few years ago? No. Sure some of it is that their programs have gotten better, but I think the majority of it is that we have gotten worse. Remember, we won the NC 3 seasons ago. Are we even a threat to do it again? Right now, a BCS bowl game doesn't seem to likely.
Folks, the fact that you even debating being second or third or fourth proves the point that this program has dropped. Remember, you used to argue whether we were first or second. We will see if Mizz and KU have staying power. If you think I'm not right, why has MB made all these changes over the past year? More aggresive style, freshman will start playing more, and the big one, an emotional coach.(DC) I can't remember the last time Texas had an emotional anything.

phantom1414, you appear to be attributing a quoute to me that was actually written by someone else. I do not recall saying :
" ......you guys are not as good as OU, MIZZ and KAN. Those teams are better than you. Tech beats you because they are at home and you always struggle in Lubbock. A&M beats you because for some reason they have your number and CU beats you because they will be greatly improved and the altitude will get you in the 4th quarter....."
I never said any of that, that was someone responding to one of my posts.
Just for the record, I do not believe that Mizzou, Kansas, and especially CU would beat UT this coming year. A T M has done well vs UT the last 2 years, but I expect UT to win that one at Austin this year. Tech, winning in Austin? When pigs fly.
Speaking of PIgs, I am more concerned with the Arkansas, and OSU games than UTEP, Rice, Fla ATL., even so the Longhorns should take all of those games.
No team in the BIG 12 North looks all that strong to me. Mizzou has a great QB, but lost too much to the NFL to be a serious contender.
How many winning seasons has CU had in the last decade? Not worried about the Buffs either.
