If you look at things from a logical standpoint it makes sense for a BYU fan to cheer for the Utes. In just about everyway it is a good thing for BYU if the Utes are winning. If the Utes beat a powerhouse like Michigan it makes BYU strength of schedule better, it makes the conference look better. Infact if you look at it from a completely rational perspective the best thing for BYU would be if the UTES went undefeated until the last game of the season. So my question is if it is in the Cougs best intrested for the UTES to win can your stomach handle cheering for the UTES?
that would be true... if it were any other team in the conference. but with utah... nothing gives me more satisfaction then seeing them get the snot beat out of them, and leave the field with their tails between their legs. sorry, i could never pull myself to cheer for the utes. feelings run too deep. i don't even think i own any red clothes. the thought of cheering for them makes me guilty just because i'm thinking about it. when i see people in the street wearing U clothes something turns on inside of me that makes me not like them at sight. sorry, i hate the utes and there is no way around that. no i would never cheer for the utes no matter how much it bennifited us.
I agree it is for the good of the conference, the only time that i would not cheer for Utah is when WE/BYU play them other than that i am okay if they win in some cases i cheer for it because it helps our conference gain respect and credibility. Especially with the way the BSC is run it is for OUR benefit and the benefit of all the other non BSC conferences to see other teams beat BSC teams. when UTAH plays Michigan to open the season i will watch and hope they win. Because when BYU beats utah again this NOV it will just make our team look that much better.
i cheer for Utah when they are playing non-conference games and when they play a conference team that will benefit BYU if they win. For example, if Utah and TCU are playing and TCU is even or close to their conference record, I will root for Utah to win so it will benefit BYU's conference championship hopes. Even though i know that rooting for a team does not mean that my telepathic powers will do them any good.
Absolutely. I would go so far as to say, I will cheer for any Mountain West team that does well. Like you say, it only looks well for all the Mountain West teams. I am tired of the Mountain West being a bastard child of the NCAA. I know we don't have the big money, but when we are good - give us a chance to prove it. Don't pass up any Mountain West team just because of the "lack of fan support and money" - give us a chance, we're here. We'll prove it.

My prespective on the whole thing is I cheer for the U, sometimes it is really hard but it is what is best for my team, until they start losing because then it doesn't matter to much if they win or lose then I hope their whole season goes down the drain. Like the last 2 years as soon as they lost a couple in a row I was cheering against them. Though the idle situation would be if both teams
