http://www.bleacherreport.com/articles/24014-The-Bowl-Cartel- Series---BCS-Commissioners-Say-What -Me-Worry
The Bowls last year generated approximately $148 Million dollars. Of which, the BCS Conferences received 87% of. If divided amongst the BCS Schools evenly, that's almost $2 million each.
That leaves the non-BCS schools with a whopping $20 Million of bowl revenue. If divided amongst the non-BCS schools evenly, they receive $388 Thousand each. And of course, that's in a year when one of the non-BCS schools busts into one of the BCS Bowls. On a year where that does not happen, the bowl revenue for the non-BCS schools works out to about 5% - or $130 Thousand each.
It is clear that the FBS is a conference of Haves and Have Nots. And it is obviously clear that the Haves want to keep it that way!
What gets me, and will always do so, is that the FBS is the ONLY Sport (and the ONLY division of that sport) where the NCAA does not control the Post-Season!!!
My favorite quote in the article...
The Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt and Western Athletic conferences are just worried about keeping their place at the table. Speaking for the other four non-BCS conferences after the meeting, WAC commissioner Karl Benson said they were still "very pleased with the current system."
Translate that into: “At least they invite us to the party”.

$1,620,000 is a big difference when it comes down to facilities and bringing recruits in! Wow what a scam!

Say what you want Sooner, that is a big money differentila! We just want the same money amount that yall get because that seems fair. Us at ECU already have a 43,000 seat stadium and are in the process of building it into somewhere around 48-50,000 seat stadium! We dont need charity! We just want the same amount that all other schools get.

PF08... You're talking about an equitable dispersement, which to most of us would seem fair. But in the FBS, which is some screwed up version of a Caste System, equity is not comprehensible.
If the FBS can have a more equitable dispersement of revenue, then break the FBS into divisions and call them what they really are...
BCS: FBS Royalty... non-BCS: FBS Peasants

PF08.... Also note... The money talked about in the article is strictly "BOWL REVENUE". It does not include season ticket sales, season tv contracts, merchandising, promotions or any other type of income that a team brings in based upon tickets, merchandise or market.
Some people will try and skew this argument by saying their team brings in so much more in game day sales, merchandise and contracts. That revenue still goes to those teams and their conference (based upon some contractual split they have with their conference).
Bowl Revenue is a completely different thing, and to confuse the two - like some will try and suggest - only shows the low intelligence that they possess.

Your statements are sporadic, First you say our TV ratings are no good and the memorabilia isn"t as good. How could it be we don"t have a fair chance. How big is Greenville N.C compared to where you are located? Of course we don"t put the same amount of people in the stands as you do , how could we? I take your statements personal because you seem to have a distain for us since we are somewhat small compaired with yor school. If I remember correctly you are the same person who put down ECU"s running back Chris Johnsons 40 yard dash time in the combine. Just because you have a big school doesn"t give you the right to be so conceited. WE DON"T MAKE THE MONEY YOU DO because we DON"T play the big teams you do. This is because we are a much smaller school . I will tell you something we do have as big and that is pride in our school. PURPLE AND GOLD FOREVER!!!!!!

Did you notice that Notre Dame, who didn't even play in a bowl game, got close to 2 million dollars bowl profit last season? That's what's sick!
That one school has an equal voice with conference commissioners is stupid. That five conferences don't even have one voice combined is insane.
Notre Dame, you want a part of the BCS? Join a conference. And it's high time we ignored the wishes of the Rose Bowl. I believe it wouldn't take the Rose even two seconds to jump on board if a playoff were approved.
If the NCAA has approved a school as a Division I-A (FBS) football participant, then that school should have the same voice as any other in all of Div I-A when it comes to determining how a post season champion is crowned. If not, then you do have a cartell, a monopoly, or whatever you wish to call it, and the falsity of crowning a disputed champion needs to cease.
The rules don't have to include the Idaho Vandals of the world every season, provided that there is a path that they could take in order to earn the championship. What is the BCS afraid of? That the so called smaller schools might actually be able to compete?
Here's my question: If six (plus one very special school) didn't seek nor need permission from the other five to create the BCS, why should the other five need to seek permission from the six (plus one very special school) to form a playoff? If the five created a successful, working playoff, the pressure brought to bear upon the six (plus one very special school) would be immensely intense. And I predict that not even a current TV contract could stand in the way. If the six (plus one very special school) refuse to give the people what they want, then the five should stand up, be men, and show the six (plus one very special school) how it's done.
