Well, the Brewers are officially back where they were for a good portion of the first 20 years of my life...in the cellar.  It'll be easier to get to games now, what with the bandwagon losing thousands of fans by the hour--can't say I blame them.  This is horrid, just absolutely horrid baseball the Brewers have been playing for...no, not just the past couple weeks, but since about July 2007.  It sure was nice to be able to see some meaningful baseball in Milwaukee, though.  Oh well, back to mediocrity for 20 years.  At least Prince will get his ring...and I'm sure he'll look sharp in Yankee pinstripes...they're slimming.

This is pathetic. And no, I'm not talking about the Brewers play either. I'm talking about all the fans. We dropped to 20-23, and are in last place right now. And listen to all of our fans on here. Everybody sounds like they just want to give up. Well if you do, if we start winning again soon, don't come back on here and start praising them. Back them either way. I know it is frustrating however.

Well I don't think it is that the fans are giving up on the Brewers it is just that this was supposed to be the years were the Brewers were supposed to be contenders and look at us now we are in last place in the division. With basically everyone struggling (besides Braun and some what Sheets) it is very hard to have faith in a team that was so promising and have nothing to show for it. Like he said it has been bad baseball since July 2007 and they just can't turn it around and right now I would be surprised if the Brewers get 70 wins on season if they don't turn it around.

In 1977, I went to my first Brewer game with my Dad. It was a game against the White Sox, and all that I really remember from the game was how cold it was and how much it rained. All through grade school and high school, I managed to catch about 5-10 games a year, and I loved sitting in the bleachers for just a couple of bucks. I have been there for this team, attending games, watching on TV, buying hats, shirts, jerseys, and everything else that says Brewers on it for thirty years. My son was born last July, in the heat of a pennant race, and a lot of the memories that I will carry as a first time father revolve around sitting on the couch, holding and feeding my boy, all the while trying my best not to scream at the TV when they make boneheaded plays.

I have supported this team through Bamburger, Rodgers, Kuehn, Lachman, Garner, Lopes, Treblehorn, Yost, and every other managers years. Have seen almost every hot prospect fizzle. Have seen Selig hold the city of Milwaukee hostage for a new stadium. Have seen Molitor leave. Gorman traded. And on and on.

I have waited, patiently, for a winner. All the while, watching this team and aching for them to turn it around.

I have every right to be pissed at this team! Do not insult my intelligence by calling myself and some of the other fans pathetic. Just because some fans are irritated by the play of this team does not mean they are bandwagon jumpers. A lot of them are just like me. They have been waiting since they were nine or ten years old for another winner.

There is only one thing about these boards that truly irks me. That is some of these posters' arrogance. I am sick and tired of reading posts by people who assert themselves as the only "true" fans. Get off of your high horse.

I'm with ya Southbeach, I also have followed the Brewers since the mid 80's.  My first game saw the crew play the Yankees and the old knuckleballer Phil Niekro.  Many of us long time fans finally felt a level of excitement that the Brewers have finally become a contending team.  The way things are going now is disappointing as it does not look like they will live up to expectations this year.  What I and many others see is a lot of talent that does not have the confidence, attitude and the right leadership to succeed.

The thing that makes me mad the most is that this is possibly the last year for the Brewers to be world series contenders.

Ben Sheets will be gone after this year... It's a fact. Two years from now, Prince will be in New York, and the team will go back to what it was in the early 2000's. Two or three good players with a bunch of Middle of the road players. The Role of Richie Sexson will be played by Ryan Braun and taking the place of Jose Hernandez (a player who almost set the strike out record in a season) will be Bill Hall.

Let's be honest now, Rickie Weeks and JJ Hardy were supposed to be the Middle infield of the future, but they haven't panned out at all. Are they good players?... yes. Are they superstars?... Not at all. JJ Hardy was good for a half of a season (the beginning of last year). Other than that, he has been average. Weeks hasn't lived up to his potential at all.

I hope they can turn it around... I'm still going to watch every game possible. But this isn't what a thought it could be.

I've followed the crew since the 80's as well. I didn't ask for a defense at all. And when did I ever say you have no right to be pissed at this team? Didn't think so. Then be pissed at them. Who cares.

Southbeach, Thats a lovely novel you wrote... but its not like i called out you, or anyone for that matter..... Are you going to tell me that there isn't bandwagon jumpers?!!? I never called you out, so i dont get why you are getting on the defense so quickly, relax... I jus said its pathetic people are giving up 43 games into the season..
